The father of American Idol’s David Archuleta has reportedly been banned from the set after meddling with the production and generally hassling the staff along with the other contestants. Stage dad! Stage dad! Way to make your son look good.

TMZ reported that Jeff’s backstage reach extended to song lyrics, where he allegedly wanted to mix in a verse of Sean Kingston’s hit “Beautiful Girls” into David’s first song “Stand by Me.” Um, that’s sort of not allowed, according to reports of what went down.

Jeff Archuleta can only sit back and watch now. Hey, at least he’s allowed in the audience! The bad news is that he’ll have to keep his meddling fingers out. Oh, the torture.
