Ever wonder what a car plowing into a group of cyclists looks like? CNN shows us with this incredible picture of a car plowing into a weekend bike race along a highway near the U.S.-Mexico border. The toll: 1 dead, 10 injured.

According to the report, the 28-year-old driver was drunk and fell asleep when he crashed into the race.

The picture is said to have been taken by a city official watching the race. PS: OMG.

Having been hit by one while on a bicycle myself ... cars suck.

Like @AJ I too have been hit by a car on a bike. No LOLs for me here.

This is one of those times where I think "like" misses the sentiment. It would be helpful if we had a way to express what we believe is the value of the content, without tying it so specifically to one emotion. I think this is a fascinating photo, and am glad it was included. I don't like it though.

@Sacca: I don't like the photo either. But I'm okay with Duncan posting it because it (hopefully) keeps people aware of cyclists on the road. Drunk or just inattentive, a 2 ton vehicle is a weapon, particularly against a 20 lb bike.

@AJ, sorry if I wasn't better at expressing myself here. I am very glad Duncan posted this photo here. Training for an Ironman, I am on my bike a couple hours a day. That said, I do not "like" the photo. I think using "like" as the qualifier leads to some hesitation and confusion among FriendFeed users. I would prefer to be able to score the quality or value of his contribution rather than having to say I like it. In this case, I would say Duncan's contribution was of high value.

A smiley is used as the image for "like." I'd like to see the word removed (does "like" work in i18n?) to be replaced by a range of smileys. Something like this: http://www.holyredeemer.com/image.php/id=390

@Sacca: Totally understand and kudos for the Ironman training. That takes some serious dedication. Keep pushing through.
