Glee star Lea Michele has signed a deal with Harmony Books for her debut book, Brunette Ambition.

The book will follow the 26-year-old’s rise to fame from her humble beginnings in the Bronx, to her Broadway debut, to her scoring a lead role on Glee. Brunette Ambition will offer a “personal and intimate, behind-the-scenes perspective” into Michele’s life.

“There wasn’t a guidebook when I was growing up, that detailed everything I needed to do, and know, to get to where I am today,” the actress said. “But I believe I can write one of sorts: not a how-to-make-it-in-show-business book, but a guide to harnessing tenacity, passion, enthusiasm and hard work to make your dreams come true.”

Michele, who has earned two Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy nomination for her role on Glee, got her start as a child actress on Broadway, playing young Cosette in Les Miserables from 1995 to 1996. Two years later, she played the Little Girl in Ragtime, and played Shprintze and Chava in Fiddler on the Roof. In 2006, Michele originated the lead role of Wendla in Spring Awakening. At that time, she was offered the role of Eponine in Les Miserables, but decided to remain with Spring Awakening.

In 2009, Michele landed the lead role of Rachel Berry on Glee. She made her film debut in the 2011 ensemble romantic comedy New Year’s Eve, and scored the lead role as Dorothy Gale in the upcoming film Dorothy of Oz. 

Glee co-stars Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) and Chris Colfer (Kurt) have also made the leap to publishing. Ushkowitz recently published Choosing Glee: 10 Rules to Finding Inspiration, Happiness and the Real You, and Colfer has written a children’s book, The Land of Stories: The Wishing Well. His second book, The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns, will be released in August.

Brunette Ambition will hit bookshelves in spring 2014.

American Idol season 12 winner Candice Glover is wasting no time getting into the studio.

The 23-year-old will be releasing her debut album, Music Speaks, on July 16. The album was available for pre-sale on iTunes the day after she won the singing competition. The lead single, “I Am Beautiful,” sold 48,000 copies in its first week.

Previous American Idol winners have released their debut albums in the fall after winning the competition in the spring. Glover, however, said she wanted to take advantage of the timing.

“I’ve built a fan base being on this show, and my fan base is interested in me now and they won’t see me every Wednesday and Thursday anymore to admire my singing, so I think it’s a good thing it’s coming out this summer,” she said.

“It’s crazy that I’m even talking about an album because last year I was working at a resort,” Glover added.

The St. Helena Island, South Carolina, native auditioned for American Idol in seasons nine and 11. When she didn’t get a golden ticket, she decided to change her approach.

“(From) day one I was still in the mind-set of pleasing people. In season 11, I was all about pleasing people. … This year I took more chances because I didn’t care anymore,” she said. “I didn’t always have that confidence. I was insecure about how I looked and people would tell me all the time, ‘You don’t look the part.’ And this year I kind of stopped caring about that and just did me.”

Music Speaks will be a mix of R&B, jazz, and soul. “Almost like a Jazmine Sullivan vibe because I love her, Glover said. “She’s my favorite singer of all time.” At this time, Glover said she wasn’t sure which producers and songwriters she would be working with on the album.

Candice Glover and the top 11 contestants will be embarking on a 40-show concert, which kicks off June 29 in St. Louis.

A new installment of Teen Mom will be premiering on MTV this August.

The stars of Teen Mom 3 arrived in New York City Monday, May 20, to do promotional work for the series. The new cast was reportedly filming after-show segments with Maci Bookout, who was on all four seasons of the original Teen Mom. Incidentally, the name “Maci,” as well as the name of her son, Bentley, showed the greatest increase in frequency from 2010 to 2011, according to the Social Security Administration.

MTV hasn’t set an official premiere date just yet, but a recent report claims that it will after shortly after Teen Mom 2 ends.

Teen Mom 3 will follow four of the teenage mothers from the fourth season of 16 and Pregnant: 19-year-olds Alexandria Sekella, Briana DeJesus, and Katie Yeager, and 18-year-old Mackenzie Douthit. Teen Mom Confidential reports that the show will premiere toward the end of August and will take over Teen Mom 2‘s 10 pm Monday time slot.

Each episode of 16 and Pregnant followed a different girl, who was usually 4 and a half to 8 months into her pregnancy. The episode typically ended a few months after the baby was born.

Douthit was featured in the first episode — she was a cheerleader from Miami, Oklahoma, who gave birth to a baby boy by C-section. Yeager, who is from Rocky Springs, Wyoming, and gave birth a to daughter with her live-in boyfriend.

DeJesus was from Orlando, and her ex-boyfriend was disitnerested in her pregnancy. She gave birth a to a baby girl. Sekella was an aspiring dancer from Allentown, Pennyslyvania, whose mother wanted her to give the baby up for adoption or else she wouldn’t have a place to live. Her episode ran 90 minutes and ended with her having financial and housing problems because of her decision to keep the baby, a daughter.

‘Teen Mom 3′ To Premiere In August [Report] is a post from: The Inquisitr

A Philadelphia faith-healing couple has been charged with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and other charges in the death of their 7-month-old son.

Brandon Scott Schaible died on April 18 from bacterial pneumonia, severe dehydration, and strep. His parents, Catherine and Herbert Schaible, withheld medical care because they believed in God’s power to heal the baby.

The couple are members of a Juniata Park church that refuses almost all modern health care and safety procedures, including glasses, toothpaste, and seat belts. When Brandon grew sick, the couple called an assistant pastor to their Rhawnhurst home to pray for and anoint the baby. They never sought appropriate medical care, even though they were obligated to under the terms of their probation in relation to the 2009 death of their 2-year-old son, Kent.

A report by Assistant Medical Examiner Gary Collins said Brandon had difficulty breathing, irritability, and little appetite for three days before he died.

In addition to the murder and manslaughter charges, the Schaibles were also charged with conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child. Their pastor, Nelson Clark, questioned the murder charge, saying, “There isn’t really any guarantee that he would have lived if they took him to a medical practitioner.”

First Assistant District Attorney Ed McCann said the couple was charged with murder because of their “extreme indifference to the value of human life.”

Clark said he did consider whether he would also be charged in Brandon’s Schaible’s death but said he wouldn’t stop preaching what he believed.

“We have to obey God rather than man,” he said.

The Schaibles have seven other children, ranging in age from 8 to 17. The children have been placed in temporary foster care, and have been allowed to have supervised visits with their parents. They were also allowed to attend a recent church service.

Catherine and Herbert Shaible are scheduled for a probation hearing next month. If it is found that they violated the terms of their probation, they could face five to 10 years in prison.

Faith-Healing Couple Charged With Murder In Infant’s Death is a post from: The Inquisitr

Rumer Willis is heading to Rosewood.

The 24-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore is set to guest star in a least one episode of the fourth season of Pretty Little Liars, with the possibility of additional episodes. Willis will appear as Zoe, an organizer for a charity. Zoe is described as the kind of girl who will change the world while still maintaining her sense of humor. Her episode is scheduled to air in late July.

The fourth season of Pretty Little Liars will premiere on June 11.

When we last saw the liars, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) had just been released from Radley and was revealed as the newest member of the “A” team. It was quickly determined that she joined the stalker group in order to protect her friends. At a soiree to celebrate Spencer’s release, the omnipotent “A” traps the other liars, Hanna (Ashley Benson), Emily (Shay Mitchell), and Aria (Lucy Hale) as well as Mona (Janelle Parish) in a lodge and sets it on fire. The girls are pulled out of the lodge by the mysterious Red Coat, who Hanna and Spencer think is Alison (Sasha Pieterse). The episode ends with a hand reaching out from the dirt and another hand pulling the person out.

The new season will continue with the girls trying to figure out Red Coat’s identity, but it will also set up the Ravenswood spinoff during its annual Halloween special. The new series will see PLL vet Tyler Blackburn, who plays Hanna’s boyfriend Caleb, pulling double duty on both shows.

Ravenswood is a neighboring town of Rosewood that has been under a curse for five generations. Five strangers find themselves connected to the curse and must figure out how to break it before it’s too late.

Rumer Willis To Guest Star On ‘Pretty Little Liars’ is a post from: The Inquisitr

Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have added Emma Roberts to their coven.

The Scream 4 star has joined the third installment of American Horror Story. She joins real-life boyfriend Evan Peters, and a growing all-star cast that includes Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, and Patti LuPone. Series veterans Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, and Frances Conroy will also be returning for the new season. Season 1 star Taissa Farmiga, who was absent from the series’ second season, will also be returning, along with newcomer Gabourey Sidibe.

Details of Roberts’ role are being kept under wraps, as is Murphy and Falchuk’s M.O., but what is known is that she is a party girl.

The third season of the American Horror Story anthology will be filming in multiple locations, including New Orleans. While this season will be more historical than its predecessors, Murphy said it would also be more upbeat than Asylum, which shed an unflattering light on mental health institutions. Murphy also said that three people, including Bates, would be playing real people this season.

Roberts, who is the daughter of Eric Roberts and niece of Julia Roberts, first became known for her role in the Nick series Unfabulous. In 2007, she played the title character in Nancy Drew, and went on to do more coming-of-age and family films, including Wild Child and Hotel for Dogs. 

In 2011, Roberts landed a lead in Scream 4 as Jill Roberts, the younger cousin of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott. Roberts admitted that she almost didn’t go to her audition, but her mother encouraged to go. She said she didn’t even meet with director Wes Craven in person — she read her lines via Skype — and she initially didn’t think she got the role because she was so nervous.

“I got home and I found out I got the part,” she said.

Emma Roberts Joins ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ is a post from: The Inquisitr

Blake Shelton and NBC are partnering up to put together a benefit for Oklahoma tornado victims.

After Tuesday’s episode of The Voice, Shelton — who is an Oklahoma native — told reporters about the upcoming benefit.

“We are actually putting together a fund-raiser right now with NBC. We’ll have more details within the next 24 hours, but definitely something with NBC that is going to happen real fast, and hopefully raise a lot of money,” he said.

Earlier in the night, he also paid tribute to his home state and the people affected by performing an acoustic version of “Over You” with his wife Miranda Lambert. The couple wrote the song as a tribute to Shelton’s brother Richie, who died in 1990 when Shelton was 14.

“‘Over You’ was just the perfect song to fit, and maybe help some people heal and mourn and all those things,” Shelton said.

The 36-year-old Voice judge said he has family in the areas that were the most affected by the tornados on Sunday and Monday.

“I spent three Christmases at my sister’s house in Moore, Oklahoma, and some of those helicopter views of the destruction, you could see her house a quarter of a mile away from there,” Shelton said. “My nieces and nephews would have gone to that school [Plaza Towers Elementary], and when you start putting it in that sort of perspective, and then thinking, ‘Oh my God, I am so glad that they recently moved away from that area.’ And then you go, ‘What about all those people that didn’t?’ It’s hard to put into words, honestly.”

Shelton said the benefit would be held in Oklahoma City. Fellow Voice judge Usher, who has family in the state’s capital, said he would like to be part of the benefit.

Toby Keith, who is a native of Moore, is also planning a benefit for the tornado victims. At least 24 people, including nine schoolchildren, were killed in Moore Monday afternoon. The first victim was identified as 9-year-old Ja’Nae Hornsby.

A former sixth grade English teacher has pleaded guilty to the statutory rape of a 13-year-old student.

Daniel Reilly accepted a plea deal that would place him under protective custody at Rikers for six months. Once he is released, the 36-year-old will be required to attend sex offender therapy classes. He will remain on probation for 10 years and has surrendered his teaching license. Reilly was given the deal partly to spare the victim, who is now 14, from having to testify. He was also allowed to take two bottles of an unknown prescription medication with him.

Reilly, who taught at Intermediate School 237 in Flushing, Queens, had sex with the student several times in his Forest Hills home while his wife and baby daughter were away. The two used code words in their text messages to cover up the affair. This continued as recently as last month until the girl’s sister found sexually explicit messages and informed authorities.

“Like other politicians and public figures, he strayed and only thought with the lower half of his body. It was a mistake,” one of Reilly’s lawyers, Eric Franz, said.

Reilly and his 28-year-old wife Annemarie exchanged long kisses just minutes before he accepted the deal. Annemarie Reilly posted $30,000 bail for her husband when he was first arrested on April 9 — the last day of his affair with his student. She was also with him at a previous court hearing. The couple is reportedly moving to Nassau County once Reilly is released in order to start a new life.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said Reilly will be sentenced on July 22.

“This case should serve as a clear and unmistakable warning that law enforcement is prepared under any circumstances to apprehend and prosecute sexual predators who betray and defile youngsters,” Brown said.

David Reilly was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2000, after serving in the Aircraft Maintenance Administration for five years.

Former Queens Teacher Pleads Guilty To Statutory Rape is a post from: The Inquisitr

An Oceanside, California couple has been sentenced to two decades in prison for keeping an underage relative as a sex slave, prostitute, and housekeeper.

Inez Martinez Garcia and her husband Marcial Garcia Hernandez were sentenced to 20 and 23 years in prison respectively. Both pleaded guilty to multiple counts of abuse against a then-12-year-old niece whom they forced to cook, clean, and look after their children. They forced the girl to have sex with 45-year-old Hernandez and other men for money. If the girl refused, she was beaten and forced to eat large quantities of hot peppers and spoiled food. The girl was also told to lie about her age in order to work in a local restaurant, and the couple kept her income.

The couple helped smuggle the niece into the United States from Mexico after promising her parents they would take care of her and make sure she attended school. Instead, they kept her captive in their home for a year and a half. The niece, who is now 24 and is identified as Isabel, has since returned to Mexico, but she came back to the United States to assist in the prosecution.

“I was a young girl, and the things Inez and Marcial did to me have marked me for life. They took away my childhood,” Isabel wrote in a statement read by prosecutor David Uyar during the sentencing. “Today I can go out and be a mother, a wife, and I can sleep knowing that justice has been done.”

Isabel was rescued after she called police following a particularly severe beating by 44-year-old Martinez Garcia. At the time, she didn’t tell authorities that she had been abused and was sent back to Mexico. When she returned to the United States seven years later, she experienced flashbacks of the abuse and finally filed a police report.

“In all aspects of this investigation, it was human trafficking — from domestic servitude to selling her for sex,” said sheriff’s Deputy George Crysler. “The victim is the reason we are where we are on this case. This young woman had the courage to speak.”

California Couple Sentenced To Two Decades For Keeping Niece As Sex Slave is a post from: The Inquisitr

Griswold, CT — A Connecticut woman has pleaded guilty to beating her foster child with a wooden spoon. She faces 100 days in prison, according to court documents.

Jami Littlefield told authorities that she paddled the girl on the buttocks because she was acting out. Littlefield was arrested in January after her foster daughter’s biological mother noticed bruises when the girl bent over to pick up a top during a supervised visit. Medical staff at the Pequot Health Center determined the bruises were caused by repeated strikes from a blunt instrument.

Police said the 51-year-old initially denied that she hit the girl, but she later said that she spanked the 4-year-old with the wooden spoon after she struck her granddaughter, spat at her, and called her a racial slur.

Littlefield’s plea bargain calls for a one-year prison sentence, to be suspended after 100 days served, for third-degree assault, which is a misdemeanor. Littlefield made the plea under the Alford doctrine, which means she did not admit her guilt, but instead admitted to sufficient evidence that could convince a judge or jury to find her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Gary Kleeblatt, a spokesman for the Department of Children and Families, told The Day of New London that Littlefield’s foster care license was removed after her arrest. She received the license in 2004.

“This kind of thing is very rare, and we would expect it to be very rare,” Kleeblatt said. “In more than 99.8 percent of the time, this is not happening.”

The girl’s biological mother, Elizabeth Land, said she and her husband were having emotional and financial problems, which is why they volunteered signed their daughter and her older brother into foster care in August 2012. They wanted to work on providing a better home life for their children, and began attending supervised visits and are looking for appropriate housing.

Land said, “I want the world to know what happened to her because she was in a state-licensed foster home and she suffered these injuries.” She said she attended all of Littlefield’s court appearances and considered the guilty plea a “victory.”

Jami Littlefield is scheduled to be sentenced on July 17.

Former Full House star Candace Cameron Bure is not a fan of Kanye West’s upcoming album title, Yeezus.

Bure went on Sway in the Morning and was asked about how her religious beliefs factor into the types of roles she accepts.

The devout Christian, who said her faith “penetrates every aspect of her life,” said she made a “conscious effort to do family friendly projects.”

“It limits me. Sometimes it is a struggle, sometimes there are things I want to do or I would like to work more, or there’s shows that I go, ‘I would love to be on that,’ but at the end of the day, I’m like, that doesn’t rest well with me or it doesn’t settle well,” she said. “If I can’t feel comfortable with my decision, in terms of the Lord, I just pass on it.”

When asked if she would have a problem if one of her three children brought West’s album – which is due out on June 18 – home, she said she would because she didn’t like that he was comparing himself to Jesus. She also targeted Jay-Z for one of his monikers, which also has a religious undertone.

“I would have a problem with that … [Yeezus] is way too close, and so is Hova for Jehova,” she said. “It bugs me. It totally bugs me.”

She added, “There are songs that I do like, but can’t support 100 percent, because I have issues with that … There are a million other names out there, and he could have chosen one that wasn’t one letter off from Jesus.” Sway argued that West has a song called “Jesus Walks,” but Bure argued that he was comparing himself to Jesus in that case.

“Jesus was persecuted, and [West] feels like he is under a lot of public persecution because of who he is,” Sway said.

“But that means he’s actually comparing himself to Jesus,” Bure said. “Really, should any of us be doing that? Maybe you should change your name to ‘Uda!”

Barbara Walters’ daughter Jacqueline Danforth was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Naples, Florida, Sunday.

Danforth was released after paying her $1,000 bond, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said. The office added that this was Danforth’s first infraction as an adult, but it did not clarify whether the arrest was for alcohol or drugs.

Walters chronicled Danforth’s struggles with drug abuse in her 2008 autobiography, Audition: A Memoir, as well as several television interviews. Danforth, whom Walters adopted in 1968 with then-husband Lee Guber, struggled with substance abuse throughout her teenage years.

At 13, Danforth used to sneak out of the house in mini-skirts and fishnet stockings to party at Studio 54. She also abused marijuana and methamphetamines and ran away from home. She had hitchhiked 800 miles across the Southwest, and the man she was with went through her wallet and found Walters’ number. Walters told her she would send a plane ticket so she could come home, but instead she sent an ex-Green Beret.

“It’s 3:00 in the morning, I’m sleeping. He walks in and he said, ‘You’re going out west.’ I mean, what was I going to do? He was huge,” Danforth told NBC News during a 2003 joint interview with Walters. The man was there to take Danforth to an alternative school in Idaho.

“Even though she, you know, probably kicked and screamed, she knew that things were getting so desperate, she had to go,” Walters said.

Danforth spent three years in the intervention program, graduating from high school during that time. Shortly after she received her diploma, Guber died of cancer. She took his last name at 18 to avoid being followed by her mother’s reputation. She also went on to help troubled teenagers by founding an alternative school called New Horizons for Young Women. The outdoor program was held in Maine before being closed in 2008.

Barronelle Stutzman, a Washington florist who refused to supply flowers for a same-sex wedding, has filed a countersuit claiming that her religious freedoms gives her the right to deny service.

Stutzman, who owns Arlene’s Flowers in Richland, was sued by Bob Ferguson, the state attorney general, as well as the American Civil Liberties Union, when she told a long-time customer that her “relationship with Jesus Christ” wouldn’t allow her to provide flowers for his wedding.

The men at the center of the case, Robert Ingersoll and his partner Curt Freed, have been buying flowers from Stutzman for nearly a decade. When Stutzman told Ingersoll that she wouldn’t be supplying the flowers for their wedding, she thought the case was closed. But after the couple posted about her refusal, Ferguson filed a consumer protection lawsuit against her.

Weeks after Ferguson’s lawsuit, a Republican senator introduced a bill that would allow businesses the right to deny services or goods if they felt the action was contrary to their “sincerely held religious beliefs, philosophical beliefs, or matters of conscience.” The bill was introduced as a response to the ACLU’s lawsuit against Stutzman.

Stutzman is now filing her own lawsuit, saying that she has hired openly gay employees and has served gay clients, but that she will not provide flowers for gay marriages because of her religious beliefs. The suit was filed on her behalf by the Alliance Defending Freedom, an organization that advocates “for religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family.”

The lawsuit says that, because of Stutzman’s Christian faith, “she cannot as a matter of conscience participate in or facilitate a same-sex wedding.” The suit also claims that Stutzman’s 1st Amendment rights are being violated by trying to force her to provide for same-sex weddings.

“Everyone knows that plenty of florists are willing to assist in same-sex ceremonies, so the state has no reason to force Barronelle to violate her deeply held beliefs,” the alliance’s senior legal counsel Dale Schowengerdt said.

Florist Who Denied Flowers For Same-Sex Wedding Files Countersuit is a post from: The Inquisitr

Catherine Zeta-Jones has completed treatment for bipolar disorder earlier than scheduled.

Zeta-Jones checked herself into a mental health facility on April 29 for a 30-day treatment program, but she has already returned home with her husband, Michael Douglas.

Douglas told People magazine on Monday, “She comes home tomorrow. She’s doing a really good job of getting balanced. I’m proud of her.” Douglas, who is currently promoting his HBO film Behind the Candlebra at Cannes, said his wife is a fan of the film, in which he plays piano player and vocalist Liberace.

“She loves it,” he said. “It cracks her up. She thinks it’s a great movie.”

When the actress sought treatment last month, her spokesperson said that she “is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.” A friend of hers said that she checked into the facility because she it was “just a good time to do it” since she was “in between projects” at the time.

This is the second time Zeta-Jones has sought treatment for bipolar II disorder. She was voluntarily hospitalized in April 2011 after struggling with Douglas’ son, Cameron, being incarcerated on drug charges. Michael Douglas had also been battling throat cancer at the time, and was involved in a legal battle with his ex-wife, Diandra Luker, over the profits from his film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been very vocal about her bipolar disorder. In November 2012, she told InStyle, “It’s not easy. I’m not the kind of person who likes to shout out my personal issues from the rooftops, but with my bipolar [disorder] becoming public, I hope fellow sufferers will know it’s completely controllable.”

She added, “I hope I can help remove any stigma attached to it, and that those who don’t have it under control will seek help with all that is available to treat it.”

Chief Keef was arrested near Atlanta for disorderly conduct Monday afternoon, just two months after being released from custody in his native Chicago for probation violation.

The 17-year-old South Side rapper was arrested in Dunwoody, north of Atlanta, and booked under his real name, Keith Farrelle Cozart, on a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. He was released on his own recognizance around 3:20 am Tuesday morning.

Chief Keef was sentenced to 60 days in a juvenile detention center for violating his probation on a gun conviction in January and had just completed his sentence in March. He was originally sentenced to 18 months of probation for pointing a gun at a Chicago police officer and was prohibited from being around firearms while on probation.

Last summer, he was filmed firing a rifle at a gun range for music promotion. A judge ruled this as a violation probation, and said Chief Keef showed “willful disregard” for the court.

The probation violation is just one of the legal problems the teenage rapper has been facing this year. In January, he was sued for child support by a middle school student who claimed he impregnated her in 2011. He was 15 at the time.

The girl’s age is currently unknown, but documents showed that she is currently attending a Chicago middle school. In Illinois, it is a misdemeanor for two people under 17 to have a sexual relationship, even if it is consensual. Between the ages of 9 and 17, the older party commits “criminal sexual abuse.”

The middle school student is also suing for health insurance and other medical expenses.

Chief Keef had also been the subject of a murder investigation when one of his rivals, Lil Jojo, was shot in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. Chief Keef had sent out a taunting tweet after his death, but was never charged with any wrongdoing in the case.

Sandusky, OH – A man accused of fatally stabbing an infant in front of police officers appeared in court Monday morning.

Denzel Castile is charged with aggravated murder in the death of his 11-week-old cousin, Athena Castile.

Police Chief John Orzech said officers received a 911 hang-up call shortly after 11:30 pm last Thursday. When the dispatcher called back, a woman said that everything was fine, but police officers went to the home in the 500 block of Dewey Street anyway.

“When our officers entered the house there was probably five of six subjects kind of on top of each other in a fight-struggle type thing that was going on,” Orzech said.

Officers ordered the people in the house to stop fighting, but they continued. An officer tasered one of the men, and it was at this point that 19-year-old Castile grabbed Athena and started stabbing her. Officers were eventually able to get the knife away from him, but he continued to fight them before he was tasered, pepper sprayed, and restrained. At the hospital, Castile bit a deputy’s thumb so hard that he broke skin.

Athena was rushed to Firelands Regional Medical Center but was pronounced dead Friday morning. Castile was too combative to appear in court Friday and was being held in restraints Friday evening.

Denzel Castile appeared on a video monitor with an attorney for his arraignment Monday morning. The court entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf, and a Sandusky Municipal Court judge set his bond at $1.025 million. In addition to aggravated murder, Castile is charged with assaulting a police officer and felonious assault. Nearly 40 family members and friends showed up for the hearing and cried as Judge Erich O’Brien read the charges.

Investigators are unsure why Castile stabbed Athena. He was being held at Erie County Jail on suicide watch.

A Cleveland man was arrested after his 9-year-old daughter crashed a car into a tree.

Jaron McGee let his daughter drive his car in a Painesville Township parking lot while he sat in the passenger seat Sunday night. The girl lost control of the car “after achieving excessive speed” and drove into a large tree, according to Chief Deputy Frank Leonbruno. The purple four-door 1998 Honda had extensive front end damage, he said.

Family members took the 9-year-old from the scene before police arrived, and authorities were told the girl was not injured. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is following up to make sure the girl is unharmed.

McGee wasn’t injured in the crash either, but he was arrested for child endangerment and wrongful entrustment. In Ohio, wrongful entrustment includes allowing someone who does not have a valid driver’s license — whether it is suspended, revoked, or in this case, nonexistent — to operate a vehicle.  Both charges are first-degree misdemeanors, but the 23-year-old was also held on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants from other jurisdictions.

This isn’t the only incident involving children and cars this past weekend. In East St. Louis, two boys playing in a car in front of the Gompers housing complex accidentally ran over and killed a 15-month-old girl. Jay’lah Keith was standing in a front yard when one of the boys, who had taken his mother’s keys without her knowledge, accidentally shifted the car into drive. As the car rolled down the driveway, it ran over little Jay’lah. Her father brought her into the house and called 911, but sadly, she was pronounced dead.

Jay’lah’s family said they don’t blame the boys or their parents for the tragedy, and police called it an accident. The case is still under investigation, however, and it is unclear whether the boys will face criminal charges.

Michelle Stafford is leaving The Young and The Restless.

Stafford, who plays fan favorite Phyllis Summers, joined the long-running soap opera in 1994. She left in 1997 and was replaced by Sandra Nelson before returning in 2000. Stafford has been nominated for seven Daytime Emmys in the Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series category, and won the award in 2004. In 1997, she won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

Stafford’s departure comes shortly after the death of Jeanne Cooper, who played Katherine “Kay” Chancellor for almost 40 years. Cooper passed away on May 8 after being hospitalized on and off for an undisclosed illness. Executive producer Jill Farren Phelps said that the show had already been written into July, so it would take a little bit of time before her absence could be addressed on air.

“In the meantime, there will be references in the script that Katherine and her husband Murphy are off somewhere on a trip,” Phelps said. In the meantime, the show will honor Cooper with a 60-minute tribute airing on Tuesday, May 28.

Michelle Stafford recently shot a retrospection video in honor of the show’s 40th anniversary. The 47-year-old said, “I was actually told that I would be recurring and that I would only be on for six weeks. But I knew in my mind that that wasn’t going to happen.” She also talked about how she knew her character would “take off” and that she loved playing Phyllis.

In 2004, Stafford was a hockey correspondent on ESPN’s The Best Damn Sports Show Period. She also appeared in the Jason Statham film Parker as her Y&R character. During her hiatus from Y&R in 1997, she played Joanna Hadley in the Aaron Spelling drama Pacific Palisades.

Two boys playing in a car outside the Gompers housing complex in East St. Louis ran over and killed a toddler Saturday afternoon.

One of the boys had taken his mother’s keys without her knowledge and accidentally shifted the car into drive, running over 15-month-old Jay’lah Keith. The toddler was standing at the edge of the front yard when the car began to roll down the driveway onto the street. The boys, ages 11 and 12, jumped out the car to help the girl.

“They panicked,” Sherwin Haywood, who lives in the housing complex, said. “They didn’t know what to do.”

Elverita Graham, Jay’lah Keith’s grandmother, said the toddler, her parents, and three siblings were making their usual Saturday visit when the horrible accident happened. Graham said she was resting on the couch when she heard her granddaughter screaming. Jay’lah’s father, Marseani Keith, brought her inside and called 911.

The two boys were questioned by juvenile detectives, but Police Chief Michael Floore called the tragedy an accident.

Keith’s grandfather Fines Cole Sr. said he felt bad for the boys involved.

“Boys will be boys,” Cole said. “They’re gonna do what they’re gonna do. I feel sorry for the kids. They gotta live with that the rest of their lives.”

Graham also said she didn’t blame the boys.

“It was an accident and I don’t want to see them punished,” Graham said. “They’re young and they’ve got their whole lives ahead of them. I know they didn’t mean to do it. It’s just a horrible situation for everybody.”

During a candlelight vigil Sunday, Jay’luh’s mother, Whitney Cole, recalled her daughter’s sweetness.

“My baby was playful … with her little bow legs running through the house,” she said. “She kept a smile on everybody’s face.” Cole also said Jay’luh would kiss her 3-month-old baby brother “a million times everyday.”

Cole asked the community to pray for the boys, and asked them to take this as a lesson to be more mindful of their children.

“This is an eye opener,” she said. “Watch the babies, we don’t know what they’ll do until it happens.”

Funeral services for Jay’lah Keith are pending. Floore said it is too early to determine if the boys will face criminal charges.

Star Trek: Into Darkness star Zoe Saldana recently raised a few eyebrows when she told Allure magazine that she “might end up with a woman” after breaking up with Bradley Cooper.

The comment struck some people as a bit odd, as Saldana had previously told InStyle that she “worshiped” men and considered them “Adonises.” The 34-year-old chalked her possible decision to raise children with another woman up to how “androgynous” she is.

During a recent interview with BET, Smriti Mundhra told Saldana that some people took her comment as her coming as bisexual or a lesbian.

“It’s the saddest situation … It is almost impossible for us to get through one conversation with somebody at a cashier without having to go, ‘Oh is she Mexican? Oh is she gay? Or what kind of car does she drive? Or is she illegal or something,” Saldana said. “There are so much more things that are important besides stereotyping ourselves and limiting ourselves just by putting ourselves in little boxes.”

Saldana went on to say that she is going to “admire and love beauty whether it comes in the form of a masculine essence or in the form of a feminine essence. Beauty is just beauty.” She also said that she has known her life “to be with men,” but if she suddenly decided that she wanted to be with a woman, she would go ahead and do it.

“And I know that I’m going to be supported by the creatures that have raised me and loved me,” she ended.

Singer Ke$ha made a similar comment about her sexuality earlier this year, saying, “I don’t love just men. I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.” Ke$ha, like Saldana, also said that she doesn’t like labels like gay or straight.

The divorce battle between Porsha Williams and Kordell Stewart is getting uglier.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star  filed new documents in a Georgia family court claiming that her estranged husband has locked her out of their home on a number of occasions, and that she had to have her lawyer ask Stewart’s people for a key. Sources close to the situation said that the former NFL star has yet to give her one.

Porsha Williams is also claiming that she tried to work things out with her soon to be ex-husband, but he blew off a mediation session and called it a “waste of everyone’s time.” The 40-year-old is asking a judge to force Kordell Stewart to either allow her to use the home or to give her enough money to get her own “suitable alternative residence.” Williams is reportedly living with her mother in Atlanta.

Stewart filed for divorce on March 22, but Williams didn’t find out about it until two days later, when she read a story about it online. Stewart claimed that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” and claimed that Williams was “neglecting her responsibilities to her stepson.” Stewart also denied Williams alimony, claiming that she is “an able-bodied person, earning income, and is capable of supporting herself.” He also said there were no assets to be divided because a prenup had been signed.

The two would have celebrated their second anniversary on Tuesday, May 21.

While the exact reason behind the divorce is still unknown, several of Williams’ RHOA co-stars felt that Stewart was too controlling.

“They called him controlling and that was hard for me to deal with,” Williams said. “I will not blame this divorce on anyone but the person who filed, and that is my ex.” Williams also said she was heartbroken and occasionally ashamed by the turn of events.

“Because I put myself out there to the world as a wife and I was proud to be married and for it to end the way it did, it’s almost like a failure in a way,” she said.

A VOX guitar played by John Lennon and George Harrison was sold for $408,000 at auction Saturday.

The guitar was sold to an undisclosed buyer at the Music Icons auction at the Hard Rock Cafe in Manhattan.

Before being placed on exhibit at the Hard Rock last week, the guitar was displayed at Newbridge Silverware Museum of Style Icons in Ireland and the Stafford Kempinski Hotel in London.

Lennon featured the guitar in a video session for “Hello Goodbye,” while Harrison practiced “I Am The Walrus” on it. Both songs were featured on the Beatles’ 1967 album Magical Mystery Tour. The guitar was custom made by Mike Bennett and Dickey Denney, who presented it as a gift to “Magic” Alex Mardas, an engineer at Apple Records who was a close friend of the Beatles.

The guitar was estimated to bring $200,000 to $300,000.

“It’s extraordinary when you have the opportunity to offer such an amazing piece of music history as the VOX guitar played by both George Harrison and John Lennon,” said Martin Nolan, Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions. “From Here Comes the Sun to Hello Goodbye, this guitar is truly one of the most historical pieces of music memorabilia Julien’s Auctions has ever had the pleasure of offering.”

Beatles fans also had the chance to get their hands on first and second state Butcher album (estimated between $4,000 to $6,000 and $10,000 to $20,000, respectively) and a signed copy of the Please Please Me album ($30,000 to $50,000). A copy of Lennon’s In His Own Write, signed by all four members, was estimated between $20,000 to $30,000.

“The bidding remained fast and furious throughout the entire day as Music Icons also featured a collection of over 450 items of famed music memorabilia including more items from the The Beatles, Elvis Presley … Michael Jackson, Bette Midler, The Rolling Stones, David Cassidy, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Madonna, Jimi Hendrix and many more,” Julien’s Auctions said in a news release.

Other items sold included a 1957 Gretsch Guitar owned by Conway Twitty — a.k.a. the guy from all those Family Guy cutaways — which sold for $23,750, a jumpsuit David Cassidy wore on stage that sold for $18,750, and Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” pants, which sold for $12,500.

Beatles Guitar Sells For $408,000 At Auction is a post from: The Inquisitr

Compton, CA — A former firefighter has been arrested on suspicion of arson and grand theft, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Thursday evening.

Marcel Melanson was arrested at his home in Torrance Wednesday morning and is expected to appear in court Friday to face charges that he allegedly tried to burn down the fire department’s headquarters in order to destroy evidence of his suspected theft.

The 37-year-old former deputy chief was taken into custody in connection with a fire at the Compton Fire Department Headquarters on December 11, 2011.

Melanson is suspected of stealing thousands of dollars of Motorola radios from the department and then selling them online. The 15-year veteran is also suspected of setting fire to the department headquarters to cover his tracks.

Melanson, who became one of the youngest deputy chiefs in the nation at 33 years old, was featured on First In, a BET documentary about the Compton Fire Department, which is one of the five busiest departments in California. The heavily tattooed firefighter was also featured in Inked magazine, which said that the 84-employee department handles an average of 10,000 emergency calls a year, and has a response time of four minutes and 30 seconds. Melanson was also profiled in the Los Angeles Times in 2009.

The city of Compton eventually recovered about $300,000 from insurance for the radios. The city bought the radio and communications equipment in 2010 when it was planning to end its contract with the Sheriff’s Department and reinstate the Compton Police Department. The city spent at least $1.7 million in preparation for a new department, including more than a million on radio equipment, but the project was killed in April 2011. City officials then planned to sell the equipment to plug a $40 million budget shortfall.

Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said Melanson stole the equipment, then set a fire to cover it up.

“We don’t know what happened, but we do think it’s connected,” he said.

Marcel Melanson is being held on $250,000, and his arraignment is scheduled for Friday morning at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Former Compton Firefighter Arrested On Suspicion Of Arson, Grand Theft is a post from: The Inquisitr

Uniondale, NY — A Hofstra University student was killed early Friday morning after an armed man broke into her home on California Avenue, just blocks away from the school’s campus. The home invader engaged in a gun battle with police and was also killed.

The shooting occurred at 213 California Avenue in Uniondale, where three women and one man were living, police said. California Avenue Elementary School, which is located at 236 California Avenue, was closed after the shooting. Police have applied for a search warrant for the rental home.

“The suspect let one of the female victims leave the home during the robbery and she immediately called 911,” Deputy Inspector Kenneth Lack of the Nassau County Police Department. He said police were called at 2:29 am and arrived at the scene soon after.

“Shortly after our arrival a shooting took place where the suspect is killed and one of the female victims are killed,” he said.

Neither the student nor the shooter’s identities were released.

Hofstra University said in a statement:

“The Nassau County Police have notified us that early this morning a Hofstra student was killed during a tragic crime which took place in a rental house off campus. The police investigation is ongoing, and we do not yet know all of the relevant details. What we do know is that a young member of the Hofstra family has been taken from us in a senseless act of violence. Our hearts and minds and our thoughts and prayers are with her family, her friends, and her classmates. While our hearts are laden with grief, this weekend’s commencement ceremonies will go on as scheduled. The accomplishments of our graduates must be recognized, and together our community will heal and find the strength to move forward.”

As a Hofstra graduate (class of 2012), I am especially saddened by this news, which comes just a couple of days before the university’s commencement, which will go on as scheduled this weekend. Students who wished to live off campus often opted to live in Uniondale instead of Hempstead, where the school is located, because it was “nicer” and “safer.” I am confident that the Hofstra community, which I am proud to be a member of, will come together during this difficult time. My thoughts are with my alma mater and the family of the young woman who was killed.

A 101.73-carat diamond unearthed in Botswana sold for a record $26.7 million at a Christie’s auction house in Geneva Wednesday.

The pear-shaped diamond made up more than a quarter of the auction’s $102 million in sales, which came the night after a Sotheby’s auction pulled in $78 million in sales.

The stone was the largest D-color flawless diamond offered at auction and took 21 months to polish. A D is the highest color grade a diamond can receive and means the stone is 100 percent colorless. D grade diamonds are extremely rare, which is why they command such high prices. Flawless diamonds — those with no inclusions or blemishes — are also incredibly rare.

Among the items sold at the Christie’s auction was Barcelona soccer star Lionel Messi’s Audemars Piguet No. 10 Royal Oak Chronograph wristwatch, which sold for $81,850. The watch was sold to raise money for the Leo Messi Foundation, a charity which supports access to health care and education for vulnerable children.

Christie’s recorded another large diamond sale just month when a rare 36.45 carat pink diamond, called the “Princie,” sold for $39.3 million. The Princie — so named for the then-14-year-old prince of Baroda, who was fascinated by the gem — commanded the second largest price for an auctioned diamond, with the highest price being a whooping $46.16 million for another rare pink diamond.

A flawless blue diamond weighing 10.48 carats was sold at a Sotheby’s auction last November for a record $10.86 million (10.27 million Swiss francs). The amount was more than double the pre-sale estimate. The gem had been estimated to sell for 3.2 million to 4.2 million francs. David Bennet, head of Sotheby’s international jewelry department, said the stone can be “re-cut to a 7-carat vivid blue.”

An Indianapolis waitress scored her biggest tip ever Wednesday morning.

CeCe Bruce, who has been working at Steak ‘n Shake at Keystone and 54th Street for two years, said she was unprepared for the generosity of one of her regular customers, a woman known as Miss Jo.

Bruce said, “I was having a hard time at another table, but kept smiling and going on.” When Bruce went to pick up the credit card receipt at Miss Jo’s table, she thought she had received a tip of nearly $50.

“At first I thought, ‘$46?” And I said, ‘Miss Jo, that’s really generous,’” Bruce said. But Miss Jo’s tip was almost 10 times what Bruce thought it was.

“When I looked again, I said ‘Oh my gosh Miss Jo, I’m not taking that!’ And she said, ‘Yes, you’re taking it’ and I said no and she said ‘You need to take it,’” Bruce said.

Miss Jo’s bill was $5.97. The tip she left Bruce was $446 — not $46.

“I didn’t think I was worth $400 but, you know, she feels I am,” Bruce said. The part-time Martin University said she plans to use the money to pay bills.

Bruce’s general manager Greer Gooley said she deserves the huge tip.

“She stays late, comes in early. Whenever we need her, she’s here. So she deserves it more than anyone,” Gooley said. “It just lets servers know that you work hard and it does pay off. There are people out there that [if] you do your job people reward you for it.”

CeCe Bruce isn’t the only person to have received a large tip from a patron. A waiter at Angus Barn steakhouse in North Carolina received a $200 tip from Peyton Manning last March, on top of an 18 percent gratuity that was already include.

Not everyone is as generous as Manning and Miss Jo, however. A single mother whose bill came up to almost $140 skipped the tip, writing, “Single mom sorry” in the tip line. Adding insult to injury, the woman went on to write, “Thank you, it was great.”

A picture of the receipt was posted to Reddit, and Redditors slammed the woman for her selfishness. There was some debate about the authenticity of the photo, but that didn’t prevent the outpouring of outrage.

UFC lightweight Nate Diaz has been suspended for using a homophobic slur on Twitter Thursday.

Diaz was defending fellow lightweight Pat Healy, who had his $130,000 bonus from UFC 159 stripped after he tested positive for marijuana. Healy’s submission victory over Jim Miller — which was awarded “Submission of the Night” — has been overturned by the NJSAC and will go down as a No Contest instead. The $65,000 bonus for the honor, as well as another $65,000 awarded for “Fight of the Night” will now be given to Bryan Caraway instead.

Diaz didn’t like that outcome, and vented about it on Twitter.

“I feel bad for pat Healy that they took a innocent mans money,” Diaz wrote, “and I think the guy who took the money is the biggest F** in the world.”

Those three letters put Diaz’s future in the UFC in a state of limbo.

“We are very disappointed by Nate Diaz’s comments, which are in no way reflective of our organization,” the UFC said in a statement. “Nate is currently suspended pending internal investigation and we will provide further comment once the matter has been decided.”

Mike Kogan, Diaz’s manager, said the tweet wasn’t homophobic and that he simply meant it as an attack on Caraway, who was very open about wanting Healy’s bonus. When asked if Diaz would apologize, Kogan said, “Apologizing for what? He didn’t use that word in that sort of context. It’s a misunderstanding. If people are uneducated, that’s not my f****** fault. It’s slang for being a little b****. The guy goes on Twitter and chases Dana down like a little f** instead of picking up the phone.”

Note to Kogan: using the same word your client just got suspended for? Probably not the brightest idea.

But Dana White hinted that Diaz could be getting more than a suspension. He could ultimately lose his job over the slur.

“We are going to fine, suspend, or cut him,” White said. “One or two of those three will happen.”

Since one has already happened, it’s safe to say that the other shoe has yet to drop for Diaz. However, with Diaz currently on a two-fight losing streak — his most recent loss was to Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 7 less than a month ago — the promotion may be losing its former No. 1 lightweight contender.

If Matt Mitrione could utter transphobic slurs against Fallon Fox, calling her “disgusting” and a “freak,” and still be added to a fight card less than a month later, perhaps there’s a chance for Diaz. But if the UFC does decide to cut him, Diaz has several options, including WSOF, Bellator, or older brother Nick’s upstart, War MMA.

An unnamed source at NBC has confirmed that Fred Armisen will be leaving Saturday Night Live after 11 seasons.

The source also went on to say that Jason Sudeikis will “probably” leave the sketch comedy series as well at the end of the season.

Neither departure isn’t completely unexpected. Since co-creating the IFC sketch comedy series Portlandia in 2010, Armisen’s appearances on SNL have been more and more infrequent. And Sudeikis has been rumored to be leaving SNL since last year. Sudeikis had been portraying Mitt Romney throughout the election, and once Obama was re-elected, Sudeikis lost his biggest reason to remain on the show. While he also portrayed Vice President Joe Biden, it was unlikely that the role would be enough to keep him on the show.

Sudeikis’ movie career is also booming right now (he has three films in the tank this year), and he could decide to focus on scoring more lead roles instead of playing second banana to Jay Pharoah for the next three years.

Should Armisen and Sudeikis leave, they will be joining Bill Hader, who announced his departure earlier this week.

“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” Hader said. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.”

Seth Meyers is also leaving the show, although it won’t be until next year. SNL‘s head writer will be returning in the fall and will leave halfway through the season to host Last Night. Current host Jimmy Fallon will moving to take Jay Leno’s spot on the Tonight Show.

Sudeikis and Armisen’s departures would leave Kenan Thompson and Bobby Moynihan as the most senior cast members, with 10 and six seasons, respectively.

Farrah Abraham and Jenelle Evans could be getting a Teen Mom spinoff.

MTV is reportedly planning a one-time spinoff episode that would feature Abrahams, Evans, and their estranged mothers living under one roof.

A source said, “Network executives are exploring having the Teen Mom stars live in a house with their mothers for a week, or more, all while cameras roll, kind of like Big Brother.”

The focus of the spinoff would be on trying to mend the relationships between the 21-year-old single mothers and their own mothers.

“The special would focus on dissecting and repairing the relationships between the reality stars and their mothers,” the source added. “The Teen Moms’ children would be on the premises during filming, but they wouldn’t be featured on the special.”

Abraham revealed earlier this week that she was considering moving to Los Angeles for her own spinoff series. Only this one would feature her 4-year-old daughter, Sophia.

“Sophia will of course be in it,” she said. My daughter is part of my life; she is going to be involved.”

If the special does get the green light, it will be interesting to see the dynamic between Abraham and Evans, who have been very vocal about their dislike for each other. Evans said Abraham annoyed her, and mocked her in a Keek video. Abraham responded by saying that Evans was jealous of her, and then went on to say that she “seems to continuously not care about her son or herself.”

Since their respective runs on Teen Mom, Farrah Abraham and Jenelle Evans have consistently made headlines for their outlandish behavior. Evans not only got pregnant for a second time and practically live-tweeted her miscarriage, but she was also arrested for heroin possession and assault. Abraham was arrested on suspicion of DUI and released a “sex tape” with porn star James Deen.

Clark, NJ – Internet celebrity “Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker” has been named as a suspect in the murder of an elderly New Jersey man.

Authorities in Union County have issued an arrest warrant for Kai, whose real name is Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, in the homicide of Joseph Galfy, Jr.

Galfy was found dead inside his home on Starlite Drive in Clark, New Jersey on May 13 after police officers were called to check on his well-being. Neighbors said he had been living alone since his partner died five years ago. An autopsy performed the day after the 73-year-old’s body was discovered determined that he died as a result of blunt force trauma.

The day after Galfy’s body was found, Kai posted a strange update to his Facebook page, which is under the name “Caleb Kai Lawrence Yodhehwawheh.” He wrote:

“what would you do if you woke up with a groggy head, metallic taste in your mouth, in a strangers house… walked to the mirror and seen c** dripping from the side of your face from your mouth, and started wretching, realizing that someone had drugged, raped, and blown their f***** load in you? what would you do?”

He then commented, “raped for social justice woo f***** hoo.”

Kai was last seen at a PATCO light rail station near Haddonfield, New Jersey. Authorities said he has cut his hair in order to conceal his identity and is considered armed and dangerous. Kai is being charged with murder, and bail is set at $3 million. The Union County Homicide Task Force is working with local, state, and federal law enforcement to find him. A $5,000 reward is being offered in the case.

Kai rose to fame earlier this year when he used his hatchet to stop a “crazed” man who had attacked a black utility worker and then allegedly threatened two women. The women credited Kai with saving their lives.

Tampa, FL — A Florida man who admitted to tricking his pregnant girlfriend into taking an abortion pill is facing a murder charge.

John Andrew Welden, whose father Stephen Welden is a practicing OB/GYN, admitted to forging his father’s signature on a prescription for Cytotec, or misoprostol, a drug used to induce labor. He relabeled the bottle as “Amoxicillin,” an antibiotic and gave it to his girlfriend, 26-year-old Remee Lee.

“Whenever a woman is robbed of her ability to give birth and have a child, I don’t think there’s any greater harm you can cause somebody,” said Lee’s attorney, Gil Sanchez. “She’s devastated. She still can’t believe this happened to her.”

Welden met Lee in mid-2012, and the two began dating. They broke up briefly but got back together long enough for Lee to become pregnant in February 2013. While she was excited about the baby, Welden tried to convince her to have an abortion. Lee said she would keep the baby and raise it without Welden’s support. She even showed her sonogram picture off to her co-workers at Chipotle.

“She was so excited,” Sanchez said.

In late March, Lee went to Dr. Stephen Welden’s office for an exam. Dr. Welden discovered that Lee had a bacterial infection and prescribed Amoxicillin to treat it. It was then that Welden forged his father’s signature on a prescription for Cytotec and relabeled it as Amoxicillin. He gave the prescription to Lee, who was six weeks and five days pregnant.

Lee began to bleed at work the next day and went to the hospital, where she found out she had been given a pill that is used in medically induced abortions. Court records show that Welden told Lee that he had given her Cytotec. Lee is now suing Welden for battery, intentional infliction for emotional harm, and punitive damages.

“Doc Welden,” as he is called on his website, has been helping infertile couples get pregnant for over three decades, and is not facing any charges.

John Andrew Welden was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury on charges of product tampering and first-degree murder. He faces up to life in prison if convicted on the murder charge. In state court, a 6-week-old fetus wouldn’t be considered viable, but in federal court, it’s a different matter.

The Unborn Victims of Violence of 2004 defines an “unborn child” as a “member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb.” If an unborn child is killed during a federal crime — like, say, product tampering — it’s considered murder.

Welden was denied bail Wednesday after a prosecutor described the 28-year-old as a flight risk due to the serious nature of the charges. Assistant US Attorney W. Stephen Muldrow told US Magistrate Anthony Porcelli that the case was “one of the most shocking and premeditated cases I’ve seen.”

With the winds of change blowing through the American Idol set, one judge is hoping to be a familiar face next season.

Keith Urban, who joined the judges panel in season 12, said he wanted to come back to the singing competition in season 13.

“I would. I mean, I literally enjoy coming to work every day, and that’s a rarity,” Urban said after being asked if he would like to judge again next season.

“I joined an ensemble like this in the same way I joined a band,” the 45-year-old added. ”I like being in a team and I felt that immediately, with [host Ryan Seacrest] and Randy [Jackson], particularly.”

Unfortunately for Urban, who has been a fan favorite on the show, he joined a season wrought with drama and declining ratings. Wednesday’s episode, which featured the final showdown between Kree Harrison and Candance Glover, was topped by Modern Family, which became the first show ever to outdeliver an Idol finale in the Adults 18-49 demographic. While Idol drew 11.57 million total viewers, compared to Modern Family‘s 9.75, the latter scored 3.5 million adult viewers versus Idol‘s 2.9 million.

Modern Family has also beat or tied Wednesday episodes of American Idol in each of the last seven airings.

Throw in the season-long feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, and it’s really a wonder that Urban would want to return. But with Minaj reportedly on her way out, next season may be less dramatic. However, Jackson has confirmed he won’t be returning, so Urban may be starting over with an entirely different panel if he is asked to return.

So far, there has no been no word from Carey about whether she will be returning, but the diva is supposedly planning her first world concert tour in nearly a decade, which most likely means she’s out for next season, too.

Still, despite all the happenings this season, Urban seems to have taken it all in stride, even though it means being judged himself.

“It’s funny. I think everybody is judging,” he said. ”Everyone at home is judging us, judging them, judging everybody.”

Shakira has confirmed that she will be leaving The Voice next season.

She will be replaced by Christina Aguilera, who coached the singing competition for the first three seasons, but left to promote her most recent album, Lotus. Cee Lo Green, who also coached the first three seasons, left for the same reason, and their old seats were filled by Shakira and Usher. Aguilera’s return was announced earlier this week, and Green is currently in advanced negotiations to join as well, reuniting the original coaching panel (Aguilera, Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton). 

Green and Shakira’s returns weren’t completely unexpected. Creator Mark Burnett told The Hollywood Reporter last summer that stars such as the coaches often have other commitments that may require them to leave the show for extended periods of time.

“These are current touring artists, so it’s a matter of balancing schedules,” Burnett said. “They’re all in demand, and we’re just balancing it all.”

Just a couple of days after news of Aguilera’s return broke, Shakira confirmed that she would not be returning for season 5.

“It was a hard decision for me to make, because I’m really fond of the coaches, the people in production and everybody around me,” the Colombian singer told E! News. “And I really enjoyed The Voice, but I also have a musical career and I’m also a mother now and my poor baby’s so tired flying such long distances. He already has more miles than any pilot. So I think I have to give him a little break, and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Usher may be heading out the door as well. The “Confessions” singer was recently cast as Sugar Ray Leonard in the upcoming film Hands of Stone, a biopic about legendary boxer Roberto Duran. Usher will be starring opposite Robert De Niro, who will play Duran’s trainer, Ray Arcel.

The Voice will keep its two-hour timeslot on Monday, but Tuesday’s one-hour episode has been moved to 9 pm for the 2013-14 season.

Danity Kane announced earlier this week that a reunion, sans band creator Diddy, was in the works, and one of the first questions fans asked was: Will D. Woods be involved?

The answer is an emphatic “no.”

While the four other girls – Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, Aubrey O’Day, and Dawn Richard — are reportedly under new management and are planning a tour and a new album, D. Woods (real name Wanita Woodgett) was noticeably absent from the lunch meeting at the Groove in Los Angeles Monday.

There has been plenty of speculation about why D. Woods wasn’t involved with the reunion, with one reason being that she is busy working on her solo career. D. Woods, along with O’Day, was kicked out of the group by Diddy in 2008. O’Day was later asked back, but D. Woods was removed from the group because Diddy felt she was unhappy.

The following year, Diddy announced that he wanted the girls back for Making the Band 4, but only Richard and Fimbres showed up. Bex said she was unhappy with the the discord in the group, and Richard said she heard that Bex was “happy” with her life outside the band, and Bex later confirmed that it was a “personal choice.”

D. Woods has said in the past that the group failed because it didn’t have a “sound foundation. ” In 2009, when Danity Kane officially debanded, she clearly stated that she had no intention of rejoining the group.

“It came to an end when it needed to. There was a lot of outstanding issues and obviously that was the only way it could be resolved,” D. Woods said. “But if your services are not being appreciated, you gotta take it elsewhere.”

Now D. Woods is speaking out again. She told Freddy O, “It has been brought to my attention that my former group members of Danity Kane will be reuniting and while I will not be a part of the reunion; I wish the ladies blessings and much success on their endeavors.”

D. Woods also emphasized that she was working on new music and theater and film projects. Woods will be appearing in Rebirth! The Musical, which premieres at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on May 30. The musical also includes Lynn Whitfield, former 112 member Quinnes “Q.” Parker, and Nephew Tommy from The Steve Harvey Morning Show. Rebirth! runs through June 2.

D. Woods ‘Will Not Be Part’ Of Danity Kane Reunion is a post from: The Inquisitr

Rapper Gucci Mane has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a soldier at an Atlanta nightclub in March.

The rapper, whose real name is Radric Davis, was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon last month after surrendering himself to police about a week and a half after the March 16 incident. Gucci Mane allegedly hit James Lettley in the head with a champagne bottle at the Harlem Nights Club after Lettley asked to take a picture with him.

An ambulance crew tended to a gash on Lettley’s head, and he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he received 10 stitches.

“That is dangerous because if there was to be any other fan trying to approach him, ain’t no telling what else he might do to them,” Lettley said. “He could have possibly killed me. I just hope and pray that I recover pretty well because I still want to serve my military career.”

Gucci Mane was also accused of hitting another fan at a club in Philadelphia shortly after the Atlanta incident.

The fan, who was identified as TJ, said he approached Gucci Mane to shake his hand when he was punched in the face. TJ said he sustained a chipped tooth and swelling on the left side of his face.

“He’s out on bond, just going about his life,” the rapper’s attorney, Drew Findling, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

This isn’t Gucci Mane’s first time getting arrested. He served a six-month sentence in 2005 and another six-month sentence in county jail in 2009 for violating his probation in relation to a 2005 assault. Gucci Mane was initially charged with murder, but the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. In 2010, the raper was arrested for driving on the wrong side of the road, running a red light or stop sign, and other charges. Since then, he has been arrested five more times.

The NBA denied a proposal to move the Sacramento Kings to Seattle Wednesday.

Commissioner David Stern made the announcement that the league had put an end to a deal to sell the team to a group of Seattle investors. The vote to keep the team in Sacramento followed a recommendation made by the league’s relocation committee last month, ending a nearly three-year bid.

“It’s nice to see two great cities so interested in an NBA franchise, but the winner here is Sacramento,” Stern said at a news conference in Dallas.

The Maloof family, which owns a controlling interest in the Sacramento Kings, wanted to sell the team to a group led by investor Chris Hansen. Hansen was hoping to move the franchise to Seattle and rename the team the SuperSonics. The original SuperSonics were moved from Oklahoma City in 2008 after 41 years in Seattle and renamed the Thunder, which shares its predecessor’s franchise history. Seattle has not had an NBA team since it lost the Sonics.

The Oklahoma City Thunder went on to make the playoffs in four seasons in row, making it to the Western Conference Finals in 2011, and losing to the Miami Heat in the finals last year.

The proposal faced opposition from Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who played in the NBA from 1987 to 2000. Johnson launched a campaign to keep the team in the state capital of California. Johnson was backed by an ownership group led by TIBCO software chairman Vivek Ranadive, and included 24 Hour Fitness founder Mark Mastrov, former Facebook senior executive Chris Kelly, and the Jacobs family, who own Qualcomm.

Stern urged the Maloof family to reach a deal to sell the team to Johnson’s group, saying, “It is my expectation that we will be able to reach a deal with the Maloofs.”

The Maloofs reached an agreement to sell a 65 percent controlling interest in the team to Hansen’s group in January for $525 million, which topped the previous record of $450 million from Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, who purchased the Golden State Warriors in 2010.

Hansen increased his offer to $550 million, then to $625 million as he and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer made a last ditch attempt to persuade the NBA Board of Governors. That amount included $406 million for the Maloofs’ controlling interest, as well as a $115 million relocation fee that was nearly quadruple what Clay Bennet paid to move the Sonics to Oklahoma City.

Chris Hansen spent almost two years getting an arena plan approved by city and county governments. He spent more than $65 millions buying land in the SoDo neighborhood of Seattle, where the Sonics’ arena would be built.

Nicki Minaj is reportedly leaving American Idol after one season.

“It’s safe to say she isn’t coming back to Idol,” an insider told Us magazine. “She’s OK with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway.”

The announcement comes a little less than a week after Randy Jackson, who was the only original judge left on the competition, confirmed that he was leaving Idol after 12 seasons.

“I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry,” Jackson said. “It’s been a life changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”

A recent report claimed that all four judges — Jackson, Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban — were going to be fired from the singing competition. Producer Nigel Lythgoe was also rumored to be on the chopping block, but there was no mention of whether host Ryan Seacrest would also be on his way out.

The show has been struggling in recent seasons, with the top four performances on May 1 pulling a series low of 11.08 million viewers. Add to the that the on-going feud between Carey and Minaj, and audiences simply weren’t tuning in the way they used to.

So far, neither Carey or Urban has commented on whether they would be returning to American Idol next season. However, Carey is reportedly planning to embark on her first world concert tour since 2004. Her last tour, the Charmbracelet World Tour: An Intimate Evening with Mariah Carey, took the singer to over 20 countries and spanned eight months and 69 shows.

“Due to the smash success of ‘#Beautiful,’ fans are clamoring as Mariah makes plans for a world tour,” a source said. The single, which features R&B singer Miguel, is currently at No 22 on the Mainstream Top 40 and Rhythmic charts.

A group of 20 Florida teenagers heading for their prom sprang into action to help rescue a family from a car accident Saturday.

The teenagers were bound for Fort Lauderdale when a van carrying a family of seven overturned in front of them on Interstate 595. The Western High School students helped pulled five adults and two children from the overturned Honda Odyssey.

The driver of the van was heading eastbound on I-595 when traffic slowed down, according to Sgt. Mark Wysocky of Florida Highway Patrol. The driver veered to the left and bounced off a divider, which resulted in the van turning over on its side.

Danny Izzi, president of Avanti Limousines and Airport Transportation, was driving the limo the teenagers were riding in when the van overturned.

“I almost hit them,” Izzi said. “I had to slam on my brakes, but with 20 kids in there it’s really [difficult] to put the brakes on.”

Football player Frank Tucker said, “We kind of reacted to it, ran out of the limo and did what we had to do.”

Peter Kim said said grabbed a 9-year-old boy from the van and tried to help calm his mother.

“We laid her down, and we tried to calm her down. She was just panicking, she was in shock,” Kim told NBC Miami. “She was screaming out, ‘Where’s my baby? Where’s my baby?’”

Kim added, “It felt great that we got to help someone out and that we didn’t just roll on by. I’m happy that I had my peers that actually helped out instead of just sitting there and doing nothing.”

The family was taken to the hospital in ambulances with minor injuries. However, the 2-year-old girl was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The teenagers made it to their prom just 15 minutes late, even though some of them were bloodied from their impromptu rescue mission, which was captured on video.

Even with all that going on, “it was a good prom,” Krista Pulcini said.

Fred White, who called Kansas City Royals games for nearly three decades, passed away Wednesday due to complications from melanoma. He was 76 years old.

The Homer, Illinois, native was the voice of the Kansas State Wildcats in the mid-1960s through the early 1970s. He began his tenure with the Royals in 1973, spending 25 years in the radio booth with partner Denny  Matthews. White was also a play-by-play man on Big Eight and Big 12 telecasts, and called basketball games for CBS and NBC Sports, Turner Broadcasting, and ESPN.

Most recently, White served as the Royals’ Director of Broadcast Services and the Royals Alumni. The day before his death, the Royals announced that White was retiring after 40 years working with the team.

“Fred White has been synonymous with Royals baseball as long as anybody can remember. There are so many people in Kansas City who, when they hear a voice, they knew it was Royals baseball, and Fred was that voice along with Denny for so many years,” vice president of communications and broadcasting Mike Swanson said. ”He had a huge influence on my life back in the ’70s, and I’m personally honored that I had a chance to work with him when I came back to town and wish him and his family nothing but the best.”

The team released a statement about White’s death Wednesday afternoon. The statement reads:

“The Kansas City Royals are deeply saddened today to announce the passing of Fred White due to complications from melanoma. White, who spent 40 seasons in the Royals’ organization as an announcer, Director of Broadcast Services and the Royals Alumni, passed away earlier today in hospice care.

There are no details at this time regarding funeral arrangements.”

Former pitcher Jeff Montgomery reflected on Fred White’s contributions to the team, even after he was replaced as the Royals’ broadcaster by Ryan Lefebvre in 1998.

“After he finished a 25-year broadcast career, he was a tremendous asset to the organization because he brought the alumni together,” Montgomery said. “There were a number of alums who kind of felt alienated from the organization for one reason or another, and Fred recognized that the alumni were a significant asset to the organization.”

Before joining the Kansas City Royals, Fred White was the sports anchor at WIBW-TV in Topeka.

Teen Mom Jenelle Evans is facing more than two years in jail after being arrested for possession of heroin and assault last month. Evans was also served with an outstanding warrant for failing to pay child support by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

Evans and her husband Courtland Rogers were arrested on April 23, and the case was heard in a North Carolina court Tuesday.

“We are waiting for her to be indicted for a felony,” Evans’ attorney Dustin Sullivan said. “If she is convicted, the sentencing guidelines could be 25 months maximum.”

Evans’ next court date is set for July 1, and her attorney said he expects a grand jury to indict her on the felony charges around that time.

After Evans’ arrest, she claimed that she was “set up” by Rogers. A source close to the situation said that, even though the drugs were found in Evans’ home, they did not belong to her. Because they were found in a common area, all the residents of the house were held accountable.

Evans previously checked into a rehab facility seeking treatment for her drug addiction, but she checked out after only four days.

“She wasn’t in rehab that long because she doesn’t think she really needs it. She’s ready to live her life like a normal person not on drugs or dealing with the crappy guys who were around her,” a source said.

Evans also said she wasn’t on drugs anymore, and that she was where she wanted to be in life.

“I’ve been sober since November of 2012 and everyone knows this,” Evans wrote on Twitter.

Jenelle Evans and Courtland Rogers are currently estranged. Rogers was placed on suicide watch after checking himself into a hospital in February, and said he wanted to die because he wasn’t with Jenelle.

“I just didn’t know how to deal with the pain that I’m not with her,” he said.

Seventeen puppies were abandoned along State Park Road east of Indiana Highway 49 last Friday.

Karen Read saw someone in a gold SUV dumped nine puppies and their mother along the road and speed off. She and other residents rounded up nine of the puppies, which had gone in all different directions. Read called her husband to help, and he gathered the eight other puppies that had also been abandoned nearby.

Read called the police and waited until a Porter County Animal Control officer arrived to take 15 of the 17 puppies. A resident who had helped Read round up some of the puppies took the other two, which appeared to be ill, to the Porter County Animal Shelter Sunday.

Read said the mother dog was not caught Friday, but Animal Control confirmed Monday that she had been captured in a live trap and was taken to the animal shelter.

“I’m glad I came when I did,” Read told The Northwest Indiana Times. “We have coyotes, raccoons and possums out there. They’d be killed.”

Lakeshore PAWS, a local foster organization in Valparaiso, Indiana, took in the puppies, which appeared to be from two different litters. According to the shelter’s latest “pupdate,” the puppies are Lab mixes, ranging in age from 6 to 12 weeks old. The puppies were only available for viewing from 10 am to 3 pm Wednesday at Coco’s Canine Cabana.

As of 10:40 am Wednesday, all of the puppies were spoken for, and Lakeshore Paws was no longer taking applications for them.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help identifying the person who dumped the puppies on the road.

Last April, six bulldog puppies were found locked inside a suitcase in a Toledo, Ohio alleyway. The three male and three female puppies were 3 to 4 weeks old. The suitcase belonged to a man named Howard Davis, who said the suitcase had been stolen from him and that he had given the dogs to a friend in Michigan. The dogs were taken to the Humane Society and reunited with their mother until they became eligible for adoption.

Katherine “Kay” Chancellor, the character Jeanne Cooper played for 40 years before her death last week, will be killed off of The Young and The Restless.

Cooper died on May 8 after being hospitalized on and off since April from an undisclosed illness. She was 84 years old. Her son, Corbin Bernsen (Henry Spencer on Psych) confirmed her death on Twitter, writing, “Mom passed this morning. She was in peace and without fear. U all have been incredible in your love. In her name share it 2 day with others.”

Cooper began playing Katherine, the “Dame of Genoa City,” in 1973. She originally signed a three-year contract, but she ended up staying on the series for four decades. Her character underwent a face-lift, using footage from Cooper’s real-life procedure.

Executive producer Jill Farren Phelps told TV Guide that episodes had already been taped for airing into the summer, but that Chancellor will eventually die.

“We’ve already written the show into July, so it will take some time before we can address her departure on air,” Phelps said. “In the meantime, there will be references in the script that Katherine and her husband Murphy are off somewhere on a trip.”

Phelps went on to say that fans, as well as the other characters on The Young and The Restless, would be given closure in regards to Katherine’s departure.

“Contrary to rumors, we never gave a thought to recasting the role — not for a minute! ‘Y&R’ was forced to do it when Jeanne was out ill for a bit a couple of years ago, when she was replaced by Michael Learned (in 2011),” Phelps said. “But that was a temporary situation. You cannot replace the irreplaceable. The greatest way to honor Jeanne is to make Kay’s exit as dramatic and meaningful as possible.”

CBS plans to honor Jeanne Cooper with a 60-minute tribute airing on the Tuesday, May 28 episode of The Young and The Restless. About 25 actors will gather at the Chancellor mansion to reminisce about Cooper as themselves. Chancellor’s death will be addressed at a later date.

Disney recently gave Merida, the  protagonist of Brave, a makeover in preparation for her “coronation” as a Disney princess. Merida was made thinner with a bigger chest and a more “princess-worthy” dress. She was painted up and had her wild red hair tamed, and her bow and arrow was replaced with a sash around her waist.

Fans were outraged by Disney’s attempt to sexualize Merida, and a petition was started on Change.org to revert Merida back to her original design. As the first, and only, female lead in a Pixar film, Merida was supposed to be a role model for little girls. Instead, she became just another pretty princess — all sparkle and no substance.

“The redesign of Merida in advance of her official induction to the Disney Princess collection does a tremendous disservice to the millions of children for whom Merida is an empowering role model who speaks to girls’ capacity to be change agents in the world rather than just trophies to be admired,” the Change petition reads. “Moreover, by making her skinnier, sexier and more mature in appearance, you are sending a message to girls that the original, realistic, teenage-appearing version of Merida is inferior; that for girls and women to have value — to be recognized as true princesses — they must conform to a narrow definition of beauty.”

At the time of this writing, the petition had received 197,036 signatures — 2,964 short of its 200,000 signature goal. But that number was enough to change Disney’s mind about Merida’s makeover. Even though Merida was a princess, she broke tradition and caused chaos in her kingdom by refusing to be defined by her nobility. It was something that hadn’t been done before in a Disney/Pixar film, and it was in danger of being erased in the stroke of a makeup artist’s brush.

When the first trailer for Brave was revealed in 2011, co-director Mark Andrews said of Merida, “She isn’t your typical princess. She’s your anti-princess … She wants to get out in the outdoors of the Highlands, escaping from castle life and exploring the woods.”

It appears that Disney is done messing with Merida. Now if only we could say the same about the other princesses.

Former Criminal Minds star Mandy Patinkin has joined Zach Braff’s Kickstarter-funded film Wish I was Here.

The casting announcement was made on the project’s Kickstarter page.

Wish I Was Here is based on an original screenplay from the former Scrubs star and his brother, Adam. Braff will play Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor, father, and husband who, at 35 years old, is struggling to find his purpose and identity. Patinkin will play Braff’s father. The Tony and Emmy award winner currently stars in Showtime’s Homeland, which has been renewed for a third season that will premiere on September 29. Patinkin is probably best known for his role as Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride and as Jason Gideon on Criminal Minds, which he called his “biggest mistake” because of the violent nature of the series.

Kickstarter offers incentives to backers who pledge money for a project. A certain amount may get a backer an autograph or some other collectible, or even a credit in a movie.

Braff launched his Kickstarter campaign for Wish I Was Here following the success of a similar campaign for a Veronica Mars film. “The Veronica Mars Movie Project” campaign drew over 90,000 backers who pledged almost $6 million, nearly triple the original goal of $2 million. What makes the feat even more amazing is the sheer amount of pledges between $400 and $10,000. Thirty people pledged $3,000, another 10 pledged $3,500 and four pledged $5,000. One backer pledged $10,000 for a speaking role in the film as a waiter or waitress.

With nine days left until the end of the campaign, Wish I Was Here has over 38,000 backers who have pledged $2,622,046 (at the time of this writing), well over the $2 million goal. The top backers, who pledged $100 to the project, will get to attend advanced screenings and Q&As in select cities, as well as art prints, tee shirts, and other cool stuff.

Braff said he decided to go the Kickstarter route because of his experience with his 2004 dramedy Garden State.

“I never talked to studios. I didn’t want to make it with studio. Since Garden State, I’ve had so much experience of that being a nightmare. I just thought I had nothing to lose. I thought, ‘I know I have this loyal fan base. I know they want me to make another movie,” Braff told The Hollywood Reporter. “I know they want me to be totally in charge of it. I know that it will take some explaining because there are people who don’t understand how the business works and will be confused.’”

Michael Rapaport and Mary Elizabeth Ellis have exited CBS’ series, The Millers.

The multi-camera comedy from Greg Garcia (Raising Hope, My Name Is Earl) stars Will Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced news reporter who is looking forward to enjoying his newfound singleness. But when Nathan tells his parents, Carol (Margo Martindale) and Tom (Beau Bridges) about his divorce, his father follows suit and leaves his wife of 43 years. Carol then moves in with Will, and Tom moves in with his daughter Debbie and her husband. The two roles were supposed to be played by Ellis and Rapaport, but will now have to be recast.

Arnett, who was being courted for several pilots once it appeared Up All Night was heading for cancellation, joined the series in February because it was similar to his real-life experiences of going through a divorce. Arnett and Amy Poehler decided to divorce after nine years of marriage in September 2012. It was the second divorce for Arnett, who was married to actress Penelope Ann Miller for a year in 1995.

Exactly why Rapaport and Ellis left The Millers is unknown at the moment, but recasting tends to happen early in the pilot process after table reads. In fact, multiple comedies have had actors leave after table reads in the past three months: Giovanni Ribisi replaced Tommy Dewey in the Fox series Dads (Vanessa Lachey also replaced Erin Pineda in the series), Christina Ricci left Girlfriend in a Coma (and NBC pushed the series back due to difficulty finding a replacement), and Jane Adams exited the untitled Craig Robinson pilot. Similarly, NBC’s The Family Guide and Sean Saves the World have also had recastings, as well as Fox’s Surviving Jack.

The Millers will air Thursdays at 8:30, after The Big Bang Theory.

Kelly Rowland’s new single, “Dirty Laundry,” shows a side of the singer fans might be surprised to learn about.

In the song, Rowland discusses being in an abusive relationship, and admits to being envious of Beyonce’s success. She intertwines both stories and talks about how, while she was going through all of these things in her personal life, she was watching Beyonce “killing it.”

“When you’re soaked in tears for years, it never airs out. When you make pain look this good, it never wears out,” Rowland sings in the chorus.

“Meanwhile, this man go putting his hands on me,” Rowland sings. “Swear y’all don’t know the half of this industry.” Later, she talks about how, because she was in Beyonce’s “shadow,” no one had any idea what she was going through.

Rowland then goes on to sing about how she hid behind dark sunglasses because of the abuse she was suffering, and how Beyonce called her to tell her she needed to get out of the relationship. She even goes on to say how she was lying to her mother, and how her abuser told her nobody loved her more than he did — not even her parents or her “sister” Beyonce.

“He turned me against my sister, I missed ya,” she says.

“Love is pain, pain is love. You got me f****d up,” she sings at the end.

While Rowland gives no clue as to who the mystery man was that abused her, ex-fiance Roy Williams, whom Rowland was engaged to briefly in 2006, went on Twitter to squash rumors that the song was about him.

While we may never find out who the mystery man was, we can be glad that Kelly Rowland was able to get out of the relationship. And even though she was envious of Beyonce, Rowland is starting to find her own success and is finally stepping out of her shadow.

‘Dirty Laundry’: Kelly Rowland Talks Abusive Past, Beyonce Envy On New Track [Listen] is a post from: The Inquisitr

Veteran actor Jon Voight said he was “as surprised as anyone” to learn about Angelina Jolie’s double mastectomy.

Voight said he saw his daughter after she had undergone the surgery, and had no idea that she had had her breasts removed.

“My love and admiration for my daughter can’t be explained in words,” the 74-year-old said. “I saw her two days ago with my son Jamie. We all got together for his birthday, with her and Brad. But I didn’t know. It wasn’t obvious at all. I found out [Tuesday] morning.”

Voight added, “I was as surprised as anyone and deeply moved by the way she’s handled this. She’s a very extraordinary person, the way she examined it, and what she shared.”

Angelina Jolie opted for a double mastectomy after learning she carries a gene that increases her risk for breast and ovarian cancer. She also decided to have her ovaries removed for the same reason.

Although they have reconciled in recent years, Voight and Jolie (as well as son James Haven, or Jamie) were estranged for several years. Jolie accused her father of  cheating on Jolie’s mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, causing their divorce in 1980. Jolie and Voight had a strained relationship for many years, but by 2001, they had made up, and Voight appeared in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider with his daughter.

In 2002, Jolie filed a request to drop Voight as her surname, and the request was granted in September of that year. Voight claimed his daughter had “serious mental problems,” and Jolie later said she was no longer interested in having a relationship with her father. It wasn’t until two years after Bertrand’s death in 2007 from ovarian cancer that Jolie and Voight reconciled again, this time at the urging of Brad Pitt. He did the same thing when he was married to Jennifer Aniston after she became estranged from her mother.

Because of their rocky relationship, Voight said he “completely” understood why Jolie didn’t tell him ahead of time that she gotten a double mastectomy. He wanted “the focus to be on the inspiration,” he said. He also said he spoke to her after he learned about the procedure, and Jolie “educated [him] on this stuff.”

Solange has launched her own record label, Saint Records, which will operate with distribution through Sony.

The 26-year-old made the announcement on Twitter Tuesday, adding that she will be releasing her full-length album through the label, as well as future projects. It was initially reported that she had signed a deal with Columbia, which is owned by Sony.

The news comes shortly after the release of her single, “Look Good with Trouble,” which features Kendrick Lamar and is currently available on iTunes.

The Dev Hynes-produced track was originally featured on Solange’s 2012 True EP.

“I wrote and recorded ‘Look Good With Trouble’ as a prelude to ‘Bad Girls,’” Beyonce’s little sister said. “But decided to create it as a full song and add the brilliant storytelling of Kendrick Lamar.”

Solange began working on her debut album, Solo Star, when she was 14 years old. The album featured Jermaine Dupri, The Neptunes, Linda Perry, Timbaland, and others as producers. Solange co-wrote and co-produced a number of tracks on the album, including the lead single “Feelin’ You (Part II).” The single failed to hit the Billboard Hot 100, but it peaked at number three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales and Hot Dance Singles Sales. The album was released in January 2003 and debuted at number 49 on the Billboard 200.

Solange released her second album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams, in 2008. The album received positive reviews, and was generally considered better than her debut album. Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200, with the lead single, ”I Decided,” debuting at number 44 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

Farrah Abraham is leaving Teen Mom (and Backdoor Teen Mom) behind.

The 21-year-old has revealed that she is planning to move to Los Angeles to start a new spin-off reality series.

Abraham told Hollywood Life, “I think for sure moving to Los Angeles is on the cards right now, because I’ve been here every week. It’s better that Sophia and I are together more instead of separate because [the distance] is getting to be a lot.”

Abraham added, “There are a lot of meetings for a spin off show with me right now, so I just need to see what I like. I have had other leads in the past when I got out of my contract with MTV, but I haven’t found anything I agree with yet but when the time is right I’ll be OK with that.”

The single mother, who rose to fame (or infamy, depending on who you ask) on the original Teen Mom in 2009, said her 4-year-old would be involved in the reality series.

Speaking of Sophia, Abraham recently revealed that she plans on showing her daughter the porno she made with James Deen when she turns 13.

“When she’s around 13, 14, gets on her period, kind of wants a boyfriend age. I think then that’s the year to really be like ‘Look Soph, I have this tape,’” she said.

Abraham also raised eyebrows when she was spotted buying a pregnancy test last week. Deen slammed Abraham (no pun intended) for her “pregnancy publicity stunt,” saying he never would have worked with her if he had know she was not “taking preventive measures.”

Deen added, “When you knowingly involve another human being and a publicity stunt around that, a child is not something to be taken lightly. It’s not a game anymore, and it’s really not cool.”

R&B singer Monica is pregnant with her third child, her first with husband Shannon Brown.

The 32-year-old tweeted a link to an Instagram photo Saturday with the message, “Show time Chattanooga.” Her pregnant belly is clearly visible through her blue dress.

After being congratulated by former Reno 911! star Niecy Nash, the “Don’t Take It Personal” singer added, “Thanks SO much… 5 months & counting LOL #excited.” 

In 2004, four years after the suicide of her boyfriend Jarvis “Knot” Weems, Monica began dating rapper Rodney “Rocko” Hill. The two broke up that same year, but got back together a few months later. After giving their relationship a second chance, Monica became pregnant. She gave birth to her first child, Rodney Ramone Hill III, in May 2005.

Monica became pregnant again in 2007, and gave birth to her second child, Romelo Montez Hill, in January 2008. He is named after Monica’s younger brother, Montez.

Monica and Hill got engaged on Christmas Eve 2007, a little less than two weeks before their son was born. The couple broke up in October 2009, after rumors surfaced that Hill cheated, but the split wasn’t announced until March 2010.

Three months later, Monica met Phoenix Suns shooting guard Shannon Brown, whom she met while shooting the video for her song “Love All Over Me.” The two were married five months later in a secret ceremony on November 22 at their Los Angeles home. A second wedding/vow renewal followed on July 9, 2011. Brown has a son, Shannon Christopher Brown, from a previous relationship.

Monica is currently working on her eighth, currently untitled, studio album. She announced that she would be working with Missy Elliot, Rico Love, Polow Da Don, and others on the album. Incidentally, the title of her previous album, 2012′s New Life, seems to have foreshadowed this latest pregnancy.
