John Galliano out at Dior after video of second anti-Semitic tirade surfaces

Designer John Galliano was suspended from Dior last week after he made some anti-Semitic remarks in a Paris bar, but the fashion maven has now been officially axed after a video has surfaced of a similar incident.

Recent Oscar winner Natalie Portman, who was slated to be the face of a new Dior perfume, released a statement that calls the future partnership into question:

“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”

Christian Dior CEO Sidney Toledano had the following to say about Galliano’s ouster:

“I very firmly condemn what was said by John Galliano, which totally contradicts the values which have always been defended by Christian Dior.”

It has not yet been decided whether Friday’s Fashion Week Paris Dior show will go ahead as planned.
