Man Staged Gunpoint Kidnapping So He Could Go ‘Partying With Friends’

A man from Texas arranged for two friends to come to his home wearing masks and violently kidnap him at gunpoint in front of his wife so he could spend the night drinking with friends.

Just when you thought news stories couldn’t get more bizarre, 34-year-old Rogelio Andaverde from Edinburg, Texas staged a violent kidnaping in his house just so that he could go out drinking for the night.

Andaverde’s wife watched as her husband was dragged away by two men in masks, forced into a car and driven away. The woman immediately notified the police who launched a manhunt in the area for the “kidnapped” man.

The next day, after a good night out with the guys, the man returned home telling his wife that his kidnappers just let him go.

Sheriff Trevino who dealt with the incident told reporters: “We took this incident very seriously because of the circumstances described to us by the wife. People don’t just barge into your house and kidnap you for the hell of it.”

The Sheriff said that Andaverde confessed that he had set up the fake kidnapping because he wanted to go out “partying with friends.”

He added: “I don’t think his wife appreciated being kept until 4 or 5 in the morning, being interviewed by the cops while her husband was out doing who knows what with who knows who. He’s going to have a lot of answering to do.'”

Andaverde was arrested and charged with making a false report to the police.
