Katy Perry Rocks Jungle Theme In SNL Performance [Video]

Katy Perry rocked a jungle theme on Saturday Night Live (SNL), as she performed her new hit “Roar.” The single is the singers eighth No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 and her first from the upcoming album Prism.

The performance followed closely to the singers music video as members of the band dressed as Zebra’s, Elephant’s, and other wild animals while Katy Perry sported a jungle-themed leopard print dress. The singers SNL set was also populated with tropical foliage that covered the stage.

While her performance of “Roar” was a bit over-the-top, yet very well performed, it was her second performance of “Walking on Air” that really revved up the crowd. The new single from Prism was recently released and Perry scaled back the stage to give it a true vocal performance. “Walking On Air” is a Eurodance-inspired track and for that reason the stage looked more like a revved up ’90s dance floor with lighting effects and a fan blowing back Katy Perry’s hair as she donned a schoolgirl outfit.

Katy Perry’s first tracks from Prism have gained massive support, while her closest rival, Lady Gaga, has not received the same critical praise. Here’s Katy Perry performing her new single:

The show was hosted by Bruce Willis who spent part of the night as a parody of himself.

We will have to wait two more weeks for another SNL performance. Edward Norton will host the show on October 26 with musical guest Janelle Monae.

Do you think Katy Perry’s Prism album is going to be a big hit? What did you think of her SNL performances of “Roar” and “Walking On Air?”
