New York Rabbis Arrested In New Jersey For Torture, Kidnapping: Divorces Forced For 30 Years

New York rabbis were arrested in New Jersey on allegations of kidnapping and torturing orthodox Jewish men in order to force them to divorce their wives.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the Jewish “Yid Army” was accused of being racist for chanting racial slang about their own race during soccer matches.

Divorce law for orthodox Jews is different from most people. Under this religious code, a woman can only divorce a man if the man issues a consent document called a “get” that allows the divorce. But what happens if the Jewish man does not consent?

Apparently, several families of such Jewish women hired two New York rabbis to force the divorce consent out of the men at a cost of $50,000. But these rabbis are not merely trying to be as convincing as possible, their plans allegedly include “kidnapping, beating and torturing husbands in order to force a divorce.”

The FBI launched a probe into these two New York rabbis by posing as a Jewish woman wanting a divorce. The down payment for their services was $20,000 and the whole conversation was recorded. One of the New York rabbis was quoted as saying:

“Basically what we are going to be doing is kidnapping a guy for a couple of hours and beating him up and torturing him and then getting him to give the get.”

But if the Jewish husband didn’t give in too quickly the “tough guys” would employ a cattle prod since it didn’t leave marks:

“If it can get a bull that weighs 5 tons to move… you put it in certain parts of his body and in one minute, the guy will know.”

The torture crew for the rabbis was arrested in a New Jersey warehouse. The eight Jewish men were allegedly armed with” rope, surgical blades, a screwdriver and plastic bags.” One man even wore garbage bags to protect his clothing.

The two New York rabbis accused of the crime are named Martin Wolmark and Mendel Epstein. Prosecutors claim the New York rabbis “did it for money” and not “out of religious conviction.” But the lawyers for the rabbis insist that coercion and violence to force Jewish orthodox husbands to grant religious divorces is “an old tradition.”

In fact, this “tradition” is apparently at least 16 years old. The New York rabbis were investigated in 1997 for the same type of charges but a lawsuit was dropped in 2000 because the Jewish husband “was unable to identify any of the defendants.” Rabbi Abraham Rubin claimed “Rabbi Mendel Epstein and his kidnap crew tortured him, beating him and shocking his genitals with an electric stun gun.”

New York Rabbi Weinstein works in family therapy and heard about rabbis Epstein and Wolmark forcing orthodox divorces out of Jewish husbands for at least 30 years. Weinstein says, “What bothered me is that the police and courts didn’t care.”
