Meg Ryan To Star In New Sitcom

Meg Ryan has been “living quietly in New York” but the When Harry Met Sally star is now getting ready to get back to work.

Ryan will be producing and starring in a new sitcom for NBC.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan will play Sonny, a former hotshot New York editor who wants to get back into the business. Sonny is a single mom who is “desperately confrontational” and when she returns to work she has to deal with Brenda, a former intern who is now her boss.

The new show will be written by Family Ties scribe Marc Lawrence.

The half hour single-camera comedy will also feature Sonny’s teenage kids, her mother-in-law, and her husband. The other roles have not been cast yet.

This will be Ryan’s first major television role since she starred on One Of The Boys with Nathan Lane, Dana Carvey and Mickey Rooney in 1982. Ryan has appeared on shows like The Simpsons, Web Therapy, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Meg Ryan is the most recent movie star to make the move to the small screen. Michael J. Fox and Robin Williams both had new shows debut this season.

The news of Meg Ryan’s new show comes just a few days after an article in People Magazine said that the actress was tired of Hollywood and was happy living a “quiet life” in New York.
