Miley Cyrus Opens Up About Split From Liam Hemsworth [Video]
Miey Cyrus is finally speaking out about her split from longtime beau Liam Hemsworth. The former Disney star made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss that and other things.
It’s always awkward to talk about personal issues in public and so Ellen started, as always, on a light note, reminding Cyrus that the last time she was on the show, in November 2012, she had a party with strippers to celebrate her engagement.
When they got to the thick of it, Miley said it’s not awkward to talk about it because she is “living it. This is they young star’s first major relationship.
I think people spend more time actually thinking about it then I really do. I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That’s kind of where I am right now. I felt like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn’t really been focused on that.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth met on the set of their movie The Last Song and began dating in 2009. In 2012 he popped the question and they became engaged. The relationship ended a few months ago, but an official announcement was not made until last month.
The singer goes on to say that she appreciates people being “respectful” about her personal problems and she is grateful the attention has been on her music and not on her private life.
According to Miley Cyrus, her new album Bangerz is about her relationship with Liam Hemsworth:
“I think it says that with starting with “Adore You” and ending with “Someone Else,”” she said. “I feel like you can really find like this arch of, like, growth.”
The “Wrecking Ball” singer says she had not realize how personal the album was until recently when she sat down and listened to the finished product and “put it in my car.”
“This is really like telling a story.’ I think I knew more intuitively where my life was going than I actually thought I did at the time.”
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth had apparently been at odds since before Valentine’s Day of this year, she previously said that at that time, she realized the relationship was over.
The singer says she has not been in contact with her ex, who is currently in Atlanta filming The Hunger Games: Mickingjay and recently moved to New York City.
You know, for me, I really haven’t gotten to see anyone right now. ‘Cause I’ve been so crazy busy, I’m just letting that chapter kind of close and just looking forward to that new one. I want to be really clear and determined with everything I’m doing in my life right now, and I have been. I keep saying I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and that’s not even a dig. That’s just me, because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself, which I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I’ve never been able to just be alone, and I’m obsessed with being alone and like hearing my thoughts.
After the split, Miley Cyrus suggested that Liam Hemsworth had been “less than faithful” to her. The Aussie actor has been the perfect gentlemen so far, he has not made any public comments on the matter.
