Sandy Koufax Praises Clayton Kershaw [Video]
The Dodgers advanced to their 10th National League championship series last night and no oone was happier than Clayton Kershaw. Well, maybe Sandy Koufax.
The baseball legend was in the clubhouse last night as the Dodgers celebrated their 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves. When the mist of champagne cleared, Koufax removed his safety goggles and gave Kershaw a big hug.
“I have a great relationship with him. I have a ton of respect for him. To get a hug and get a good job from a guy like that, from a guy that’s been there, from a guy that’s done this before and was the best at it for a long time is pretty special… He genuinely cares about not only this team but kind of our well-being. He cares about us. That’s awesome.”
Kershaw had a stellar outing on Monday night and was one of the main reasons why the Dodgers advanced. His six inning performance also earned praise from Don Mattingly.
Mattingly said: “He’s just a different cat, you know? I’m sure there have been guys out there like him throughout the years, but there are not many.”
