Danica Patrick: Crash At NASCAR Sprint Cup Leaves Pink Car Smear On First Lap

Danica Patrick’s crash in the NASCAR Sprint Cup came during the first lap at the Kansas Speedway.

But, wait… did Danica Patrick leave a pink smear behind?

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Danica Patrick’s pink car is being raced for all of Breast Awareness Month.

Some NASCAR fans were not exactly pleased by Danica Patrick’s pink car spoiling the alleged manliness of racing. Although some were happy she was supporting a good cause others basically said Danica Patrick was a walking (or racing?) publicity stunt.

The first lap of the Hollywood Casino 400 was about as kind to Danica Patrick as some of the NASCAR fans. She lost control of her pink car and spun into David Reutimann and Cole Whitt before slamming into the wall:

“I knew that losing grip was not going to be that hard to do. I said before the race, make sure who is on my door and who is behind me. I knew all that was going to be happening on the start. All I can say is, I didn’t try to do anything. I just found myself sideways in the middle of the corner and that was it.”

Before Danica Patrick crashed, she recalls being congratulated during practice the day before so she feels it’s a “shame” to disappoint her team in this manner. Still, she wasn’t alone in her troubles. Danica Patrick’s pink car had new tires from Goodyear and the cold temperatures made the track slick, resulting in a record-setting 15 caution periods. Other racers like Kyle Busch ended up crashing and the racing conditions could partially be blamed.

Danica Patrick’s NASCAR career for this season has her 28th in points with an average finish of 26.4. The last time Danica Patrick was at the Kansas Speedway she finished in 25th place.
