iPad 3 Coming Before 2011 Ends?
Just a few short days ago we were excited to learn that the iPad 2 has went into production, now word is circulating that the devices 3rd generation release, that’s right the Apple iPad 3 could actually surface this year, in September 2011 to be exact.
The news, broke by John Gruber at Daringfireball says the device is meant to be a “surprise launch.”
According to Gruber:
“Summer feels like a long time away. If my theory is right, they’re not only going to be months behind the iPad 2, but if they slip until late summer, they might bump up against the release of the iPad 3.”
It’s all speculation at this point, but with reports circulating the web that Apple has filed a number of OLED touchscreen patents, it’s easy to see why people would be getting excited about the possibility of a new tablet/touchscreen enabled gadget from Apple. At the same time, an iPad 3 device could cannibalize iPad 2 sales which will more than likely still be humming along when the expected September 2011 date comes around.
Other top tech websites are reporting the same type of speculation, it will be interesting to see if anything comes about from these rumors, perhaps Gizmodo will get their hands on one of whatever Apple is producing ahead of time.
