Brian Hoyer Tears ACL, Out For Season

Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer is out for the season after suffering an ACL tear to his right knee. The injury occurred during his team’s Thursday night victory against the Buffalo Bills.

Coach Rob Chudzinski confirmed his starting QBs injury while talking to reporters on Friday.

“I talked to Brian,” Chudzinski said. “Obviously he is disappointed. But if you know him, and you guys have been around him a little bit to know how positive he is and what type of person he is, he’s already thinking about when he’s going to be back.

The ACL injury was suffered during a run on Thursday night and will sideline the teams QB1 for the remainder of the season.

Chudzinski added: “I reassured him of that as well. I wanted him to know what he meant to us, but he’ll be back. He’ll make it back.”

Taking over the starting quarterback position will be Brandon Weeden. While he played well in relief against Buffalo, he struggled badly in his teams outing against Cleveland.

When asked why he was confident in Weeden’s abilities to take over Chudzinski said:

“Because we have no other choice. That’s what we’re going to do. Everybody who plays, regardless of position, we expect to do well.”

Brian Hoyer was injured when he was hit by Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso just 3:57 into the game. Hoyer was attempting to slide after an 11-yard run. Following the hit Hoyer rolled over and grimaced in pain.

Also hurt in the game was Bills rookie QB EJ Manuel who took a shot to the knee from safety Tashaun Gipson.
