Lacey Chabert: People Still Ask If I’m Trying To Make Fetch Happen

Lacey Chabert is nearly 10 years removed from her role as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls, but she can’t seem to escape the role.

The actress, now 31, said at least once a day someone will tweet a joke from the movie to her. Many of them ask if she’s still trying to make “fetch” happen.

Even the White House is getting into the act, posting a picture of the first dog with the caption, “Bo, stop trying to make fetch happen.”

“I have to say that was pretty awesome,” Chabert said of the White House shout out. “I retweeted it and said, ‘OK, fetch has officially happened.’ I mean, it’s the White House!”

Chabert this month appears on the cover of Maxim magazine, wearing nothing but lingerie and a cardigan.

Lacey Chabert struck a serious tone during her Maxim interview, saying that she leaned on a strong support system to avoid the crash and burn of other child stars, including Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan.

“Look, life is tough, and growing up in this business is especially tough. So I really can’t take any credit other than saying I grew up in a really protective family,” she said. “Also, I want a long-lasting career, so you’re not gonna find me doing anything scandalous any time soon.”

Though she may be best known for her older work, Lacey Chabert is far from done in Hollywood. In the last year she appeared in the television series Baby Daddy, the television movie Scarecrow, and as a voice actor in the video game Young Justice: Legacy. She also has another five projects in various stages of post-production.
