Paul Giamatti To Return For ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’

Paul Giamatti recently confirmed that he’s all set to return for The Amazing Spider-Man 3. In other words, the Rhino probably won’t bite the proverbial dust in the upcoming sequel.

Sony Pictures recently announced that the third installment of their rebooted series would hit theaters on June 10, 2016. Although this could change if The Amazing Spider-Man 2 crashes and burns at the box office, signs currently point to the flick being a substantial hit.

According to MovieWeb, Paul Giamatti signed a multi-flick deal with Sony Pictures when he agreed to play the villain in the sequel. However, the actor stopped short of revealing if he had any involvement with the fourth entry in the franchise.

During a recent interview with the folks at The Toronto Sun, Giamatti opened up about his character and the havoc he will wreak on the iconic superhero in director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The actor explained:

“In the comic books of old, he had this suit on that made him look like a rhinoceros, and it made him super strong. If there was a bank vault he would just run right through it. Butt through it with his head. And he was not very smart. And I have a particular kind of suit, but I don’t think I’m supposed to talk about it. He’s a Russian mobster. Russians are always good villains. I have an ability to just destroy things. My accent is pretty hammy. I loved doing it. it seemed to me like an opportunity to be as over-the-top hammy as possible. It was really fun.”

Paul Giamatti told Collider that he was surprised by the amount of interest the sequel generated over the summer. He was also a little shocked by the number of people who showed up to snap pictures of the set in New York City.

“I was stunned at the level of interest. I have never had that type of paparazzi on anything I’ve been doing. I was very surprised,” the actor said.

Fans of the busy actor can catch him in the fourth season of the hit drama Downton Abbey. The new episodes are slated to premiere in the US this January.

Paul Giamatti will join returning star Andrew Garfield for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in 2016. Are you looking forward to the next two sequels in the series?
