Labrador Befriends Shy Toddler With Down’s Syndrome, World Is Suddenly A Better Place [Video]

A mother captured the heart-warming moment that her young son with Down’s Syndrome made a new best friend in the shape of a loveable and gentle labrador.

Five-year-old Herman is a shy and timid toddler who is based in La Plata, Buenos Aires, and has not only struggled to make friends, but he also normally moves away from any contact whatsoever.

When Himalaya, a labrador, approached Herman, his mother Ana, expected her son to simple rebuff any advances, even if the dog decided to warm to Herman in the first place.

However, as Herman sits alone on a patio, Himalaya instantly takes a liking to the child. Herman is at first alarmed by the dog, but after Himalaya moves away from him he then moves over to the dog to take a deeper, more longing, look at the pooch.

This leads Himalaya to place his paw on Herman, but his act of kindness only scares the infant yet again, and leads Herman to move away.

Rather than being perturbed by Herman’s rejection though, Himalaya decides to take a more patient approach. Himalaya plays with Herman’s feet, and then slowly drops his head into his lap.

This leads Herman to pick up Himalaya’s paw, and after a bit more back and forth between the pair, which even sees Herman try to escape the dog by moving further and further away from him again, Herman then starts to stroke Himalaya and they then become accustomed to each other.

Their interaction then lasts for around four minutes, and Herman even plays so vigorously with his new BFF that he pulls back the dog’s fur to reveal its teeth.

Ana Marta Vegas added that Himalaya is Herman’s uncle’s dog, before noting on the caption in the video, “The thing about Hernán (the boy) Is that is a bit shy and avoids physical contact. He doesn’t like to be touched, but Himalaya (the dog) insisted so patiently..”
