‘Kick-Ass 2’ Video Game Hits In November, Or Will It Miss?

Kick-Ass 2, the video game will hit in November. Of course, this could be a bad idea.

As most of us are well aware, video games and movies rarely ever do well in each other’s realm. There have been a few minor exceptions such as the first Mortal Kombat film and the 2004 video game based on The Punisher, but on the most part, the two forms of media just don’t mix.

The Fast and The Furious: Showdown was a perfect example of what happens when you rush a game out to cash in on a movie. All it needed was a bit more polish and variety in the missions, perhaps a Grand Theft Auto sandbox style of gameplay, and that game could have been worth owning. Nevertheless, it was so sub-par that series regular Vin Diesel wasn’t even in it, a decision he probably lost no sleep over.

The Kick-Ass 2 video game could be better, however, considering that the movie has been out since August, and game developers could whip something up worth playing if they don’t try to get too ambitious with it.

The premise is simple enough, as this video game will be a simple beat-em-up where you choose between Kick-Ass, Hit Girl, or any of their teammates from the critically disappointing film and fight through hordes of enemies, no doubt leading to a brawl with the Motherf***er himself. Fighting moves from the film are said to be in the game, as well as finishers promising to come straight from the comics.

The semi-cell-shaded graphics from the screenshots we’ve seen look nicely detailed, though until we see the game in motion, we can’t know for sure. The Kick-Ass 2 video game is coming to PC and unspecified consoles in November, and it may be one of those fun little side-games you always come back to.

Then again, it could also be that video game you’ll find in the used game bin in droves as you head to the store to pick up Watch Dogs. The verdict is still out on Kick-Ass 2, the video game, but there is hope.
