Man Tries Out For ‘Family Feud,’ Kills His Wife Hours Later

Just hours after auditioning for a spot on Family Feud Monday, an Illinois man shot his wife to death before turning the gun on himself.

Marcus T. Crosby, a Joliet Central High School security guard, tried out for the popular game show along with several family members on Sunday. Crosby’s wife, Kearra Hosey, elected to not audition.

Then, at 12:08 AM Monday, Will County Sheriff’s police responded to a report of shots fired at Crosby’s house, and found him and his wife dead of fatal gunshot wounds. A relative of Crosby who also lived in the house confirmed that shots were fired after he heard the couple arguing in their bedroom.

According to the coroner, Hosey was shot multiple times while Crosby died of a single gunshot wound.

Family members were shocked, and said that they didn’t think anything was that amiss between the two.

“They had their ups and downs, like any marriage. But nothing this extreme,” said Marilyn Coutee, Hosey’s aunt.

The two were married just in June, but had been in an on-again, off-again relationship since at least 2000, according to the Joliet Patch.

The two had experienced at least a few rough patches, though. Hosey secured an order of protection against Crosby in 2000, and another in 2012, mere days after Crosby was arrested for domestic battery.

Crosby has been arrested several times since 1996 on charges including aggravated criminal sexual assault, battery, theft, assault and knowingly damaging property, according to court records.

He had been married once before, but divorced in 2004.

“I couldn’t believe [this happened]. I’m still trying to process it,” Coutee said. “It’s like a bad dream; you just want to wake up.”
