Floyd Mayweather: First Justin Bieber, Now Miley Cyrus Eyed For Ring Walk

Floyd Mayweather may be $41 million richer than the last time we had cause to mention him, but he’s already thinking about his next fight — and, just as importantly — who will walk him into the ring. Last escorted by Justin Bieber and rapper Lil Wayne before his Las Vegas win over Canelo Alvarez — the 36-year-old is now eyeing Miley Cyrus.

Don’t adjust your dial. You read it right, Cyrus is in the frame.

“Money” shared his startling recruitment drive with Billboard when he dropped by the iHeart Radio music festival in Sin City this past weekend. Incidentally, the reigning queen of Twerk played at the festival and cried.

Bearing in mind the many who apparently thought Bieber’s hype man role at Mayweather’s Vegas victory was miscast — even though the 19-year-old walked the boxer into the ring at his May 2012 fight against Miguel Cotto, and is friends with the champion’s daughter — there will be certainly be some raised eyebrows at the idea of Cyrus doing the same.

Explaining his reasoning, Mayweather said the “Wrecking Ball” songstress is the first name on his shortlist to join the Money Team for his next bout.

“I was thinking about letting the twerk queen, Miley Cyrus, bring me out,” he told Billboard.

“Why not?,” Mayweather mused, before praising the 20-year-old’s flexibility. “We’ve got to call her the twerk queen; yes, we have to call her that.”

Yes, indeed we must. The “We Can’t Stop” singer stopped pop culture time with her twerk-pas-de-deux with Robin Thicke at the VMAs last month. Since then, the tongue-out, tattooed wild child has catapulted to the top of every buzz topic and shows no signs of slowing down if her recent Rolling Stone interview is any indication.

Might her publicity-courting behavior be the reason the similarly motivated Mayweather has Cyrus on his radar? It would seem so.

Commenting on why he chose Bieber to walk him out, the world’s highest paid sportsman revealed the criteria he looks for in his hype boys, and girls.

“When you’re the best, you only want to surround yourself with the best,” Floyd said. “He’s [Justin] an exceptional artist. He’s the future.”

If Cyrus says yes — and really, why wouldn’t she? — standing room only at “Money’s” next fight?
