Paula Patton In Talks For A Lead Role In The ‘World Of Warcraft’ Movie

Paula Patton is reportedly in talks for the lead role in the long-awaited World of Warcraft movie that’s in the works at Legendary Pictures.

Robin Thicke’s main squeeze is presently in the running for a major role in Duncan Jones’ big-budget adaptation of the popular video game. Although Patton read for the part, Deadline reports that the actress hasn’t inked a deal with producers just yet.

Producers have also reportedly approached In Bruges and Phone Booth star Colin Farrell for a role in the World of Warcraft movie. However, the actor’s involvement with the flick is a little iffy at the moment. Duncan Jones is also eyeing other big names for the lead role.

Although Paula Patton and Colin Farrell are in talks for the World of Warcraft movie, there’s not a lot of information about the project floating around the internet as of this writing. Worst Previews suggests that the studio wants to craft a film along the same lines as Lord of the Rings.

Production on the big-screen version of the MMORPG is currently scheduled to begin early next year. Legendary Pictures and Atlas Entertainment hope to have the movie in the can and in theaters at some point during 2015.

Since Patton’s name is often mentioned in the same breath as Robin Thicke, people forget that she has appeared in a number of motion pictures over the years. Her recent big-screen credits include 2 Guns, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, and the sci-fi flick Deja Vu.

In addition to the World of Warcraft movie, Patton is also attached to star in Baggage Claim and the upcoming remake of the 80s drama About Last Night. The actress could also return for the next Mission: Impossible movie that’s coming together.
