Agent Carter: Captain America Flame Getting Spinoff TV Show

Agents of SHIELD isn’t the only TV show the Marvel Cinematic Universe has in the queue. They’re also in the early stages of prepping Agent Carter, a potential series based on Captain America’s love interest in The First Avenger.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, details are still pretty scarce and no deals have been made. Still, an Agent Carter one-shot short film is included as an extra on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray, which could act as a sort of backdoor-pilot.

The film takes place a year after Captain America: The First Avenger, and follows Agent Carter (played again by Hayley Atwell) working again as a secret agent.

ABC and Marvel declined to comment on the possibility of Atwell reprising the role again should the series move forward, but the short film is a pretty strong indication that they want to make it happen. Agents of SHIELD was based on Item 47, a short included with the Avengers DVD, after all.

IGN reports that the potential show is currently looking for a writer, and a network hasn’t been chosen yet (though ABC seems a given).

It would actually be nice to see Atwell continue her character’s story which, for all intents and purposes, ended in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the end of The First Avenger. Chris Evans will reprise his role in Captain America: The First Avenger, which takes place in modern day.

Emily VanCamp will play Agent 13, the niece of Atwell’s character, in the sequel.

Are you interested in seeing Hayley Atwell continue her adventures in an Agent Carter series?
