Florida Sinkhole Swallows Smart Car, Should Have Driven A Bigger Vehicle [Video]

A Florida sinkhole swallowed a smart car, which, coincidentally, was about the same size as the vehicle.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the last major Florida sinkhole sunk a Disney World resort into the ground with witnesses saying it was like a vortex of destruction.

Florida sinkholes are said to be occurring more often due to increased land development. Florida didn’t really become developed until the invention of air conditioning, so civilization is fairly recent phenomenon in Florida. Scientists believe there is a danger when anything is built on a foundation of limestone. Florida’s underground rivers slowly eat away at the bedrock within caverns, causing the sudden sinkholes above ground.

In Ponte Vedra Beach, a Florida sinkhole swallowed Madaline Keeble’s smart car before she had a chance to react:

“I saw some water on the road and I saw a security officer in his car at the corner and I made my turn. 20 seconds later I had water in my smart car up to my ears.”

Fortunately, Mrs. Keeble was able to scramble away from her smart car before it fully sunk into the water filling this Florida sinkhole. She was even nice enough to take photos as the Florida sinkhole sucked her smart car into the ground.
