‘Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII’ Trailer Summons More Action

The latest Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII trailer is more action packed than before.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the main protagonist in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is a woman who must save as many people as possible in the 13 days the world has left. In this way, Square Enix’s epic is taking after The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and using the time element as a plot device, except in this case the end is inevitable and you can’t stop it.

Of course the rush to save people from the pending apocalypse won’t stop our heroine from suiting up in several kinds of armor and weaponry, as there are over 40 combinations on display in this other video on Game Informer.

The Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII trailer begins with a girl saying, “There are no souls here for you to save, just dead people waiting for the end to come. You are God’s savior. You’ll bring souls to the new world. The encounter is ordained. You have been led to the fountain from which the chaos flows.”

A male voice cuts in then, “If you wish to have my sword, you must take it by force.”

The first narrator continues, “He has lost his undying heart. He no longer wants to live. He yearns to die, but he cannot. As the savior, you have to help him. Bring him salvation and release his soul.”

From the dialogue above, we see that one of the protagonists is an immortal, but not by choice, and he’s daring anyone to try to kill him. The man in question may be the main villain, though it has yet to be explained.

From sweeping zooms of the city, to grappling from a rooftop, and thrilling sword fights, the trailer shows us that despite the game’s apparent religious backstory, the action is not lacking in any way.
