‘The Final Girls’: Jamie Lee Curtis Returns To Horror In ABC Family Series

ABC Family has cast “scream queen” Jamie Lee Curtis in its new horror series, The Final Girls.

Written by Jeff Dixon, The Final Girls focuses on a group of girls who have survived their own personal horror stories. A mysterious older woman (Curtis) bring them together and helps them channel their experiences for a greater good.

Steve Miner will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer if the series gets the green light. The Final Girls will reunite Miner and Curtis, who worked together on Halloween H20 in 1998. Miner also directed Curtis in the 1992 film Forever Young.

The announcement comes just as ABC Family prepares its annual Pretty Little Liars Halloween special, as well as the premiere of the teen drama’s spinoff, Ravenswood. Set in a neighboring town of PLL‘s Rosewood, Ravenswood focuses on a group of five young strangers connected by a mysterious curse that has plagued the town for give generations.

Ravenswood stars PLL alum Tyler Blackburn, Merritt Patterson (Olivia Matheson), Brett Dier (Luke Matheson), Nicole Gale Anderson (Miranda Collins), and Britne Oldford (Remy Beaumont). Grey’s Anatomy actor Justin Bruening was recently cast as Benjamin Price, a high school teacher who has an affinity for connecting with his students.

ABC Family also recently picked up freshman drama Twisted for a full season. The pilot aired on March 29, after the season 3 finale of Pretty Little Liars. The first 11 episodes resumed airing on June 18. Ten new episodes will begin airing in January 2014.

Jamie Lee Curtis was involved in a car crash last month in Venice, California. The actress reportedly called Jodie Foster for support after the crash. The Silence of the Lambs star rushed to scene to comfort her friend before paramedics arrived. The 54-year-old was hospitalized and later released with minor injuries.
