DIIV Guitarist Arrested

Sky Ferreira And Boyfriend Busted For Drug Possession [Report]

Singer-model Sky Ferreira was reportedly arrested on drug possession charges last weekend.

Authorities picked up the model and her boyfriend Zachary Cole Smith in Saugerties, New York early Saturday morning. The couple landed in hot water after a traffic stop revealed that the plates on their Ford pickup truck didn’t belong to them.

According to the New York Daily News, Sky Ferreira and the DIIV guitarist face charges of “driving an unregistered motor vehicle without insurance or a license.” To make matters worse for the couple, both the singer and her boyfriend had illegal drugs in their possession.

The official press release issued by the Saugerties Police Department states that Zachary Cole Smith was allegedly carrying a plastic bag containing “42 decks of heroin.” Ferreira, meanwhile, was reportedly caught with MDMA. The singer was also charged with resisting arrest.

Although Sky Ferreira and her boyfriend are facing numerous charges, the pair insists they’ve done nothing wrong. In a post recently issued on the official DIIV Twitter account, Smith said police were essentially out to get them.

“What you’re reading is a police blotter, not the outcome of a court case. These cops wanted to f*** us, and they did. Sky did nothing wrong,” the guitarist tweeted.

According to the official release, Zachary Cole Smith faces charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, violation of operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating without insurance, and having an inadequate exhaust system.

Ferreira faces criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest charges. Both the singer and her boyfriend will return to the Village of Saugerties Court on September 23.
