Brandon Lloyd Leaves NFL To Star In Zombie Movie

Wide receiver Brandon Lloyd has been around the NFL block and is taking his talents to Hollywood. Apparently tired of the NFL, the one time 1,000 yard receiver will next be seen in the zombie movie After Effect, co-starring alongside Daniel Baldwin.

Let that sink in for a moment.

The straight to DVD movie follows a group of college students who think they are taking part in a paid study. In reality they’ve volunteered to be a part of a government experiment. Somewhere along the way zombies get involved. Sounds fun.

At 32-years-old, Brandon Lloyd wouldn’t exactly pass for a college student though. Instead, he plays a member of the military, Sgt. Chuck Lloyd, who assumably goes in to clean up the government’s mess. We’re hoping for now his character’s last name matching his own is simply coincidence.

Of course, the mystery still remains why Brandon Lloyd chose to star in a zombie movie instead of playing football. He was courted by a number of teams in the offseason and turned them all down. The two biggest teams reportedly interested in him were the Patriots and 49ers.

Maybe the 10-year veteran was just physically and mentally exhausted from the tolls of the NFL season. He never did find a stable team. Lloyd started his career in San Francisco. Three years later he moved to Washington. After two more years there, he spent a year in Chicago. From 2009 to 2011 Lloyd played for the Broncos. In 2010 he recorded his only 1,000 yard season. In 2011 he was traded by Denver to the St. Louis. And finally, in 2012 he played with the Patriots.

Lloyd has logged a lot of miles.

Here’s to hoping he’s found his final landing spot. Judging from the 50 second promotional clip, that probably isn’t the case:

After Effect will hit store shelves in early October. It is definitely a curiosity that may just be worth checking out.

Are you going watch Brandon Lloyd fight zombies in his movie debut?
