AMC Announces ‘The Walking Dead’ Spin-Off ‘Spread The Dead’

AMC fans of the hit series The Walking Dead are about to receive a second change to watch zombies in action. The network on Monday announced plans for series spin-off Spread The Dead.

The new show will feature a brand new cast and storyline and will not be associated with Robert Kirkman’s Walking Dead comic books.

The new series is scheduled for a 2015 premiere and will be executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert.

In revealing The Walking Dead spin-off AMC President Charlie Collier writes:

“We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

It has been a busy week for spin-off announces on AMC. The network recently announced Better Call Saul, a spin-off from the soon to end mega-hit Breaking Bad. As the name suggests Better Call Saul will focus on criminal lawyer Saul Goodman and his crazy life of criminal activity.

In the meantime fans of The Walking Dead are already preparing for the shows October 13 return. The series is currently matching into its fourth season.

Here’s a nice teaser clip for The Walking Dead season 4:

The Walking Dead debuted as a surprisingly fan favorite but has lost a lot of its steam in recent seasons. It will be interesting to see if show-runners for the spin-off can do a better job of keeping fans entertained.

“After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe,” Kirkman added in the statement.
