Elisabeth Hasselbeck Makes ‘Fox & Friends’ Debut

Elisabeth Hasselbeck made her Fox & Friends debut Monday morning.

Hasselbeck replaces Gretchen Carlson, who moves to a midday slot. The 36-year-old, who became a permanent co-host on The View in November 2003, said goodbye to the ABC talk show on July 10. Hasselbeck said she would miss her arguments with Joy Behar and that she had the “utmost” respect for the comedian. She also thanked Barbara Walters for letting her attend the “Barbara Walters School of Journalism.”

Hasselbeck said, “Barbara, I did some math last night and I believe I’ve had over 3,000 days working by your side, and I think it’s fair to say that over the course of a decade I feel as though I have attended the Barbara Walters School of Broadcasting and Journalism.”

She added, “I feel more than prepared at this point because of all you’ve given me, more than prepared and confident to move forward.”

On her first day at Fox & Friends, Elisabeth Hasselbeck was welcomed to a brand new set and given a tour. She was also presented with a special gluten-free cake that said “Welcome to the family.” The cake also had a miniature set featuring Hasselbeck, Brian Kilmeade, and Steve Doocy.

Hasselbeck also received a surprise visit from The View co-host Sherri Shepherd. Kilmeade asked Shepherd how to “get tight with Elisabeth.”

Shepherd said, “Always ask about her children. Always have anything gluten-free on the set. […] Always come to work with a smile. She loves a smile, she cares about people.”

Shepherd added, “She knows about your kid if they’re sick. She’ll give you advice, she’ll give you the shirt off of her back literally… Always be really nice and kind and you’ve got a friend for life.”

Elisabeth Hasselbeck said of her move to Fox & Friends, “I do feel like I’m in the best hands.”

Hasselbeck added, “I am privileged to call myself a team member, but I have felt like family there for a long time.”
