‘Sleepy Hollow’: A New Take On Ichabod Crane In Modern Times

Sleepy Hollow is the new Fox series, which premieres on Monday and brings back Ichabod Crane, this time played by British actor Tom Mison (Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, Lost In Austen) into modern times.

The mystery drama comes by way of co-creators and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers, Fringe).

The new take on Washington Irvin’s novel brings back the character Ichabod Crane to modern times and is tasked with solving a mystery more than two centuries old, dating back to the founding fathers’ time.

Of course, we will also witness a new version of the terrifying Headless Horseman who is creating havoc in present day in Sleepy Hollow.

Ichabod soon realizes that stopping Headless is only the beginning, as the rider is one of Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and only one of the dangerous foes he faces in his efforts to not only save Sleepy Hollow but the world.

The plot takes place in 2013 and to fight evil, Ichabod teams up with Lieutenant Abbie Mills played by Nicole Beharie (The Good Wife, 42, Shame).

Together the pair sets up to stop the mysterious things taking place in the sleepy town.

Each episode included flashbacks that takes the viewers back to Ichabod’s life in 1776 and gives him and Abbie the clues they need to solve the current mysteries.

Some of these clues involve Ichabod’s wife who is trapped in a strange netherworld and he discovers secrets about her that leave him asking more questions than receiving answers.

Previously, in the 1999 film version of Sleepy Hollow, Johnny Depp played the unlikely hero Ichabod Crane, who was sent to the mysterious town to solve the decapitation of three people at the hands of the Headless Horseman.

The new Sleepy Hollow series premieres on Fox on Monday, September 16 at 9/8c.
