Justin Bieber: ‘It’s Like He’s In Freefall,’ Warns Sting

Justin Bieber’s eventful 2013 continues to draw comment from celebrities and the media. Now, Sting is the latest famous person to weigh in on the pop prince.

Speaking to the UK’s The Guardian while promoting his new record The Latest Ship, which will also play as a musical on Broadway next year, when the topic turned to the life-cycle of a pop star and the buzz of having hits, Sting cautioned,

“Fame and ego and money can do terrible things,” the 61-year-old warned.”I know it’s a cliche, but you still see people going through it.

He continued: “Look at Justin Bieber, it’s like he’s in freefall. I just hope he survives it because a lot of people don’t.”

But while the 19-year-old has become tabloid fodder over the last few months amassing a pile-up of alleged assault, theft, battery claims, complaints of alleged speeding either by him or his friends in his Calabasas neighborhood, amid hysteria over rumored marijuana use, Sting actually advises the pop prince should smell the roses.

“If I could give any advice to young musicians, it would be this.” He went on,”Just try and enjoy it, because that truly explosive bit doesn’t last for ever.”

The Brit — who found massive success and uber wealth as a relatively mature 27-year-old as the frontman man for The Police before an equally acclaimed solo career — said his late entrance to fame was preferable to stars like Justin who may be more susceptible to its well-trodden pitfalls due to their youth.

The veteran singer-songwriter admits, “Well, I’m glad I had a proper job before this. I’m glad I was once a teacher with a pension plan and a mortgage.”

He added: “But it hasn’t been easy at all. I worked f******g hard to make this all happen. I did the psychological work as a child dealing with unhappiness, insecurity and fear. And then that bore fruit.”

Sting’s comments come after Bieber was recently given support from The Wanted’s Tom Parker, who said,

“Anything he does away from his squeaky clean image is seen as him being a bad lad, but he’s just doing things that a normal 19-year-old would do,” Parker told The Huffington Post UK. “I’ve done a lot worse, but because I’m a lot older and wasn’t in the public eye at that age, no-one knows or cares.”

Meanwhile, Justin’s manager Scooter Braun recently announced the pop star is set to release new music in October ahead of his upcoming movie-docu Believe, which is expected to hit theaters this Christmas.
