Homeless South Carolina Teen Faces Charges For Eating On School Campus

A homeless South Carolina teen is facing charges for eating lunches in a school without permission.

After recent announcements that being homeless in South Carolina is now a crime, as previously reported by The Inquisitr, it was inevitable that people would start being arrested for little reason more than that they don’t legally belong.

One such person was living in his teen friend’s car and leaving the car during school lunch periods to eat on campus and walk around with said friend. On Thursday, August 29, Horry County Police Department officials said that some concerned parents called and informed them there was someone on the school grounds who didn’t belong there.

Logan Santos, 17, is a former student of Carolina Forest High School. His friends told police he is now homeless and lives in his friend’s car. The homeless South Carolina teen had waited for his friend to return to the car with lunch at which time they ate together and then proceeded to walk around the campus.

Carolina Forest High School officials said they are not comfortable talking about the case openly. They say they only strive to keep the campus safe for its students. Their Principal says that there is a program in place for homeless students who need food and other necessities, but Logan Santos is no longer a student and therefore isn’t covered in the program.

The homeless South Carolina teen contacted the local news and told them he’s not a bad person. He said he’s just hungry and worried about starving. His stepfather Alfred Souza told the same people that the Logan Santos came home for about a week, looking unhealthy and underweight, and then left again, “We’ve given him a beautiful house to live in. He chooses not to live here. He took off a week ago Wednesday and we haven’t see him since.”

The student who was letting Logan Santos stay in his car has been suspended for letting a stranger on campus and not telling anyone while the homeless South Carolina teen now has a warrant out for his arrest. He will be charged with disturbing a school.
