Actor Gary Collins arrested for dine-and-dash felony in Mississippi

TV actor and talk show host Gary Collins was arrested and charged with a felony after police in Biloxi, Mississippi say he failed to pay a $59 tab at Jazzeppi’s restaurant.

In Mississippi, it is a felony to walk out on a tab exceeding $25. Per the LA Times, restaurant staff followed the actor to his car and attempted to get him to pay the tab, but he refused and drove home:

[Assistant Chief of Biloxi PD Rodney] McGilvary said Collins was drinking alcohol at the restaurant, but he wasn’t sure how much or what kind of drinks were consumed. Collins left the restaurant and was later found at a home in Biloxi, but he wasn’t given a breath test because he wasn’t operating a car when police arrived, McGilvary said.

The official charge Collins was slapped with was “defrauding an innkeeper,” and he was being held in the Harrison County Detention Center in Gulfport on $5,000 bond. It was not clear whether the actor had retained a lawyer. Collins pled no contest to misdemeanor driving under the influence after a 2007 car wreck and spent four days in jail.
