Luke Evans has said of his portrayal of the daddy of all vampires,

“[Don’t think] of the Dracula that Bram Stoker created,” Evans told ComingSoon.net in a recent interview. “The Dracula that I’m going to be portraying is the origin of Dracula. It’s about the man that became Dracula. Don’t be too quick to think he’s a bad guy. I’m just going to say that.”

The film is directed by Gary Shore with a script from Mark Sazama and Burk Sharpless and it explores the origins of the bloodsucker. In the story, which is based on the tortured character, Prince Vlad, who later became Dracula.

Dracula Untold, is truly an untold story. Most of the films about the dark character focus on his adventures finding unsuspecting, usually female, victims to attack and drink from.

According to a synopsis this time around we will see why Dracula is who he is,

“Vampire mythology combined with the true history of Prince Vlad tell the origin of Dracula. The script tells of a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire.”

Dracula Untold stars Luke Evans, Dominc Cooper, Samantha Barks, Sarah Gadon, Ronan Vibert, and Zack McGowan.

The October 3, 2014 release day leaves Dracula Untold virtually free of competition with which to lure audiences who will be getting ready to celebrate Halloween.
