iPhone 5S Compared To 5, 5C, And Apple iPhone 6 Rumors

How is the iPhone 5S compared to 5, 5C, and iPhone 6 rumors? Some people even desire a iPhone 5S vs Galaxy S4 matchup.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, yesterday the Apple Launch Event detailed iOS7, the iPhone 5S, and the iPhone 5C along with other Apple apps.

When the iPhone 5S is compared to the iPhone 5 most of the new features are contained in iOS7, which is mostly the same for both iPhones. The iPhone 5S Touch ID fingerprint scanner is the biggest obvious physical difference along with the larger camera image sensor being coupled with double LED flashes. The iPhone 5S screen size is the same as the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5S CPU is the 64-bit A7 versus the 32-bit A6 on the iPhone 5. But both the iPhone 5S A7 and the iPhone 5 A6 are dual core instead of the rumored four cores for the A7. Still, there is a speed increase. The iPhone 5S GPU is said to be much faster, which is important for playing games like Infinity Blade 3. Epic Games claims the Infinity Blade 3 wasn’t even playable on earlier iPhone models. 64 bit iOS 7 will of course be backwards compatible with 32 bit apps, which represents the majority of iPhone Apps.

The iPhone 5S has a M7 sensor that can monitor if you are running, walking, or driving. The Nike Plus Move app will use this M7 sensor and it’s possible the M7 will be used in the Apple iWatch, which is rumored to have similar motion sensing features.

How is the iPhone 5S compared to 5 when it comes to battery life? Unfortunately, despite rumors of improvements the iPhone 5S battery life promises 10 hours of LTE, 3G, and WiFi browsing. Standby can last for 250 minutes. Music is 40 minutes and video is 10. That’s pretty much what the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C can offer.

iPhone 5S Compared To iPhone 5C

The iPhone 5S compared to the iPhone 5C is easier to do. Apple flat out said they intended the iPhone 5C to replace the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5C is essentially an iPhone 5 with colored cases, a cheaper price, better cell network compatibility (useful overseas), and Bluetooth 4.0.

iPhone 5S Compared To iPhone 6 Rumors

Many of the Apple iPhone 5S rumors are pretty wild. An iPhone 6 virtual keyboard and display would be projected onto flat surfaces with four pico projectors. There’s also rumors of Mac OS X merging with iOS 7, but that’s unlikely to become available until some time between 2014 and 2016. It’s possible the iPhone 6 could have a desktop and tablet mode where a docking station could allow the iPhone 6 to hook up to a larger screen, mouse, and keyboard. The iPhone 6 release date is likely to be in 2014.

As previously noted the iPhone 5S A7 CPU is still dual core while Android users have been enjoying quad cores for a while. Apple is likely to require the iPhone 6 CPU to be quad core as well.

iPhone 6 screen size rumors claim the future iPhone screen size will be between 4.8 and six inches and be made of flexible materials. iPhone test models in various sizes are already being tested internally at Apple according to leaks. The iPhone 6 screen resolution should also increase beyond the iPhone 5S screen resolution of 640 x 1136.

Because the iPhone 6 screen size would significantly increase the overall size over the iPhone 5S, the iPhone 6 battery life should be expected to be better since they could physically wedge in a larger battery. It’s also possible advances battery technology will come along in the meantime.

The iPhone 5S 64GB edition is the largest model available now, but that’s the max for Android users as well. We might expect an iPhone 6 128GB edition next year.

The lack of iPhone 5S NFC support was unexpected. Near Field Communications allows two smartphones to wirelessly communicate at extremely short distances. Most NFC implementations are focusing on making financial transactions. Since very few retailers support NFC at this time it’s not yet a big deal, but expect iPhone 6 NFC support.

The iPhone 5S camera sensor is improved, but it’s still limited to 8 megapixels while competitors are in the 10+ megapixels range. But the size of a camera image sensor is very important in determining the final quality of the photo based upon the amount of light it can collect. And 8 megapixels is a resolution of 3264 x 2448, which is more detailed than Ultra HD TVs, never mind the older 1920 x 1080 HD standard.
