‘Fifty Shades’: Olivia Wilde Defends Charlie Hunnam’s Casting, Tells Critics To ‘Shut Up’

Olivia Wilde and Charlie Hunnam are co-stars on Deadfall, and they have some steamy love scenes. Now the actress is coming to his defense, saying that critics who don’t approve of his casting in Fifty Shades Of Grey should “Shut up!”.

While promoting her new film Rush, at the Toronto International Film Festival, Wilde talked to E! News and joked about the fact that she had to do love scenes with the newly crowned Christian Grey.

“I’d like to think that our love scenes sort of prepared him for this experience,” Wilde said with a huge smile on her face.

Charlie Hunnam’s first major role was as a gay man in Queer As Folk and he had to do some pretty explicit stuff, with a guy. He has said that was kind of a baptism by fire as far as bedroom scenes go.

But Olivia Wilde went farther and doesn’t take kindly to those criticizing Charlie’s casting as the hot millionaire Christian Grey.

“Audiences should just shut up and wait to be surprised, wait to be delighted,” she said.

As someone who knows the lovely Brit and has worked with him very closely, Olivia knows what she’s talking about. She is also not surprised that Charlie Hunnam took the role.

Wilde says he has been departing a lot from his role on Sons Of Anarchy, in which he plays a tough biker.

“Charlie is a kid from Newcastle, England and he plays this biker dude who’s bad ass—that makes me think he could do anything.”

As to whether she has read Fifty Shades Of Grey, she says someone gave her a pretty “weathered” copy of the book asking her to read it, which she found hilarious. Get it?

Olivia Wilde currently stars in Rush, alongside another hunky actor, Chris Hemsworth. But listen to her and don’t talk bad about Charlie Hunnam.
