Wally Bayola Scandal: Wife Of Filipino Comedian Stands By Her Man

Wally Bayola has seen his career and even his freedom threatened thanks to a sex tape scandal, but it appears his marriage may remain intact.

The host of the popular noontime program, Eat Bulaga, became embroiled in a scandal after a tape was released appearing to show him in an encounter with a fellow co-star. Wally Bayola has not spoken about the matter, but sources close to the comedian say his wife is standing by her man.

The support may be good for the embattled comedian’s career, but is no guarantee to keep him out of jail. The Family Code of the Philippines determines that concubinage carries a four-year prison term, though legal experts believe it will be a difficult case to prove. But Wally Bayola could still face other charges, including the much broader charge of violence against women and children.

Those who have seen the tape say it shows Wally Bayola and fellow co-star Yoshika “Yosh” Rivera in an encounter that lasts several minutes. The alleged video shows Wally’s face as he adjusts the camera, smiles, and kisses his partner.

The end of the encounter bolsters the case that it is Wally Bayola on the tape. Just before the video ends, the male partner looks at the camera and makes the “pa-pogi” sign that Bayola has made famous.

There are still unanswered questions, including why the married Bayola would videotape his encounter and how it ended up uploaded to YouTube.

In the wake of the scandal, Wally has taken a break from Eat Bulaga, said Malou Choa-Fagar, the comedian’s business manager. There were reports that producers had fired Bayola amid the scandal, but the rumors were quickly shot down.

“Not true,” Malou Fagar, executive producer of Eat Bulaga, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Wally Bayola and his wife have been together for 20 years and have five children together.
