iPhone Fingerprint Scanner: New Photos May Confirm Rumors

The iPhone fingerprint scanner has been spotted again in a new set of leaked photos.

Rumors about the phone reached fever pitch this week as Apple fans are gearing up for the release of the iPhone 5S. Mac Rumors reports that Apple is expected to unveil the product on September 10 and fans are eager to see what improvements have been made.

The biggest rumors center around the iPhone fingerprint scanner.

A few photos leaked last week that reportedly showed the innards of the iPhone’s home button. Many people speculated that the photo also showed the fingerprint scanner. The rumors may have been confirmed today with a set of new photos showing the packaging for the latest iPhone.

The unconfirmed photos allegedly show the box for the iPhone 5S. A black iPhone is printed on the top of the box and if you look closely at the home button you can see that it’s a little different than previous models. There’s no square in the middle of the button which is now surrounded by a silver ring. This could be a simple design change but many people believe that this is confirmation that Apple has completely revamped its home button with a fingerprint scanner.

Sebastien Taveau, chief technology officer of Validity Sensors, said that Steve Jobs hated the original home button.

Taveau said: “The swipe and PIN was one of the things Steve Jobs hated. It was in the way of the user experience.”

WLTX reports that market analysts are expecting the new feature to create big sales for Apple.

Wells Fargo analyst Maynard Um said: “Everyone is looking at what this new phone can do, and one of the key things is fingerprint authentication… People are underestimating what this technology can do.”
