Tucker Carlson slams Obama Michael Vick comments, says Vick should have been executed

Tucker Carlson, who has been filling in for Sean Hannity on Fox News, made some controversial remarks about President Obama and football player Michael Vick last night after Obama voiced support for Vick’s return to football.

Vick was convicted on charges of running a dogfighting ring, and has recently said that getting a new dog (he’s barred from dog ownership until 2012) might help him recover from the incident. President Obama recently praised the “second chance” Vick is getting, and Carlson criticized the President’s comments:

“I’m a Christian, I’ve made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances, but Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did [it] in a heartless and cruel way,” Carlson said. “And I think personally he should have been executed for that. He wasn’t.”

“But the idea that the President of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs [is] kind of beyond the pale,” he said.

Carlson continued:

“He’s some creepy, rich, overpaid football player, I mean, come on,” Carlson said. “If the President said there’s some guy who was dealing crack as a kid, grew up in a poor family, you know the story, and he’s turned his life around, you know, fine. I get that.”
