49ers Fan Dies After Fall At Candlestick Park

A 49ers fan died today after falling from an elevated pedestrian walkway at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

The fan has not been identified yet but San Francisco police spokesman Gordon Shyy said that the 49ers fan was a male who appeared to be in his 30s.

Shyy also said that multiple people witnessed the fan fall to his death onto the sidewalk outside of Candlestick Park. Police believe that the man was severely intoxicated.

Shyy said police officers and off-duty medics rushed to the man’s aid but the fan succumbed to his injuries before the ambulance arrived.

Police are withholding the fan’s identity until his family is notified about the death.

Fox Sports notes that this is the second incident today involving a fan falling at a football game. Two Colts fans were injured today when a railing gave way at Lucas Oil Stadium. Both fans were injured in the fall and one had to be taken away on a stretcher.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time that a fan has fallen to their death at a sporting arena. An Atlanta Braves fan died earlier this year after falling from the upper-deck. The NFL also suffered a tragic accident last year when a fan fell to his death at Reliant Stadium after watching the Houston Texans play.

The NFL and the San Francisco 49ers have not commented on the fan’s death yet.
