Scotty McCreery Raising $50,000 To Support Youth Baseball

Scott McCreery kicked off his six-city Major League Baseball ballpark tour last Thursday in his efforts to boost youth baseball. By the end of the tour, which will see McCreery perform in six different venues, he will have raised a handsome $50,000.

McCreery spoke about the importance of encouraging kids to take part in sports:

“I learned some of my greatest lessons playing sports and being a team member. Sports teach you so many life lessons about self-discipline, responsibility, teamwork, setting goals, and being fit. It’s awesome that Major League Baseball provides opportunities for kids who might not have a chance to play baseball and softball elsewhere. I’m proud to provide assistance to this program.”

The tour began at the Tampa Bay Rays stadium where he donated a $5,000 check to a Tampa youth baseball organization. He also sang Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

At each of the six venues, Scotty is inviting winners from local radio competitions onto the field to help him throw out the first pitch of the day. He is very busy, singing, pitching, and broadcasting and can be followed via his Twitter account for live updates at @scottymccreery.

Here is a list of the remaining four tours and their locations:

Thursday, Sept. 12: Philadelphia Phillies v. San Diego Padres, at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia

Sunday, Sept. 15: Chicago White Sox v. Cleveland Indians, at Comiskey Park/U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago
