Want a WPIX Yule Log on your computer screen ALL DAY?

Posted: December 25, 2010

Loop this one, below.

The 9am-1pm stretch of replacing regular programming with a video of a crackling fireplace is a time-honored Christmas tradition in the New York Metro area, but you can have a bit more control over the faux Christmas fire experience by playing the clip pasted below in your browser.

In addition to watching the Yule Log, you can now interact with the log as well via… what else but Twitter? @PIXYULELOG hasn’t begun tweeting in earnest yet, but you can read some of last year’s crackly tweets here! The log has excitedly tweeted:

3 days till I’m burning again! 12/25 9a-1p ET on @WPIX

Is there a similar tradition in your area? Tell us in the comments!

WLEP-LD here in Erie, PA started showing a program called Holiday Fireplace, which was inspired by the Yule Log. I grew up in Jersey and watched your version, can watch again thanks to Dish Network. You would be proud of WLEP's version if you could see it.
