Jon Bon Jovi’s Son Earns Spot On Notre Dame Football Team

Jon Bon Jovi’s son Jesse Bongiovi is now a proud member of the Fighting Irish.

Bongiovi, who was a stand out lacrosse star in high school, decided that he wanted to play football at Notre Dame. The 5-foot9, 183 pound freshman earned a spot on the team as a walk on.

Notre Dame’s head coach, Brian Kelly said:

“Jesse has earned his spot on the 105[-man roster]… He’s a tough kid. The kids really like him. They respect him. They don’t look at him as a rock star’s son. They look at him as a kid that loves Notre Dame and wants to play football and help this team.”

Notre Dame started their season last weekend. Coach Kelly was able to grab his 200th win a 28-6 victory over Temple University but he didn’t need Bongiovi’s help on the field.

The freshman didn’t make it into the game but his rockstar father Jon Bon Jovi was still in the stands to cheer him on.

OMG notes that Bon Jovi isn’t the only celebrity with a son in Notre Dame’s athletic program. NFL HalL OF Famer Chris Collinsworth’s son is a senior on the football team. Detroit Tigers player Tori Hunter’s son Torii Hunter Jr. and NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson’s son Corey both earned scholarships to Notre Dame.
