Bill Nye Has This Dancing With The Stars Gig In The Bag: ‘It’s All Physics’

Bill Nye, formerly the “science guy” and soon to be the “dancing guy,” thinks he has the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars in the bag.

Just because he spends his days hunched over test tubes in a laboratory doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to cut a rug. In fact, the two things are not all that different, according to Nye. Dancing is all about physics.

“It’s all physics. It’s all the study of motion,” he said. “I’m feeling great.”

He’s not full of it, either. His professional partner, DWTS newcomer Tyne Stecklein, had nothing but praise for Bill Nye and his uncanny ability to pick up new skills quickly.

“He’s a great student. He’s very smart, obviously, which helps,” Stecklein said. “He picks things up really quickly and he gets it and he enjoys it. And he works really hard.”

And he doesn’t intend to lose.

“We’re in this to win this,” Nye said of his spot on the upcoming season of the popular celebrity competition show. “I mean, I went to a pretty tough engineering school and then I worked in children’s television with ‘Sesame Street’ and ‘Mr. Rogers.’ I played in that league.”

Season 17 of Dancing With the Stars premieres Monday, Sept. 16 at 8 pm EST on ABC. Bill Nye will be facing off against the likes of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Elizabeth Berkley, Corbin Bleu, Jack Osbourne and Leah Remini.
