‘The Glades’ Petition Passes 2500 Signatures, Fans Push For Series Return

Fans of the A&E series The Glades were understandably upset when the network canceled the drama without properly wrapping up the season four cliffhanger.

It didn’t take very long for news of the show’s cancellation to spread like wildfire across social media. An online petition urging A&E to bring the series back for at least one more go-around hit the internet within hours of the announcement. The campaign has already snagged over 2,500 signatures.

Created by Clifton Campbell, The Glades told the story of a Chicago cop who quits and moves to the wilds of Florida. He soon finds himself embroiled in a number of mysteries after joining the state police. Talented Australian actor Matt Passmore starred in the series.

Although the show enjoyed a healthy four-year run on the network, the folks at A&E pulled the plug without giving fans a proper send-off. The season four finale ended with Jim Longworth (Passmore) getting shot on his wedding day. Unfortunately, this cliffhanger may never be officially resolved.

The recent petition is urging the network to put The Glades back into production. As of this writing, 2,674 people firmly believe A&E should reconsider the decision.

“As your first scripted drama to receive a renewal and give AETV an audience, I’m urging you to reconsider your decision to cancel, “The Glades”. Not only did the season finale receive a high rating, the cast has been superb at interacting with the show’s audience through Twitter, and other social media. They give their time to build the audience, and answer fan questions on a regular basis,” the petition reads.

A separate campaign spearheaded by disgruntled fans is asking the USA Network to seriously consider picking up The Glades for another season. According to the petition, many people feel that the canceled series would be a perfect fit for the cable network.

“Not only did the season finale receive 3.4 million viewers, the cast has been superb at interacting with the show’s audience through Twitter, and other social media. They give their time to build the audience, and answer fan questions on a regular basis. You couldn’t ask for a better cast, and crew,” the petition argues. USA hasn’t commented on the situation just yet.
