E.L. James And Producers Of ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Respond To Casting Haters

On Monday, E.L. James made the official announcement that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson will be playing the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

This news made many happy, but it seems like it made even more very upset.

USA Today posted a few of the messages upset twitter followers posted in response to the announcement:

@AnnChambers521: Straight to video.

@PamCawood: Not a good pick for the two at all

@loopylooplealea: I wont be watching it now, that’s for sure!

@QueenAlanis72: I’m disappointed. I was picturing Christian Grey with black hair and blue eyes and Ana Steele as a gorgeous red head.

@WVstraw_dog: HORRIBLE CASTING choices. They are unattractive and just…just bad.

@bellabann: So very disappointed with both choices. No longer looking forward to seeing the movie :'(

@cheezygirl21: why won’t they listen to the fans! Well your loss….

@Azertynin: wrong cast (mostly for Christian), very disappointed.

Now, keep in mind, these are only a few of the comments left by upset fans. Will these messages change the minds of E.L. James and the producers of the the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey? That is a definite no.

E.L. James posted on twitter the following message in response to both the casting supporters and haters:

It’s clear that E.L. James is thankful for all the opinions that were expressed during the casting process and that she is sticking with the choices made.

MTV reported that Producer Dana Brunetti also defended the casting choice by tweeting the following messages to fans:

So the choices have been made, and E.L. James and the producers are sticking with their picks. Haters can hate, but that doesn’t seem to be phasing those involved in the casting. We will all just have to wait and see how the movie turns out when it’s released in August of next year.

As one twitter follower cleverly stated on Dana Burnetti’s twitter profile, “Can Charlie Tango?” Well, we will have to wait and see if Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson can pull off their hot new roles in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation.
