‘Thor: The Dark World’ Interview: Natalie Portman Has Nice Things To Say

In a recent interview about Thor: The Dark World, Natalie Portman had some nice things to say about the film and certain other actors.

Thor: The Dark World is the next film in the second wave of Marvel’s Avengers series, giving us another followup to the film that made Chris Hemsworth a star. As the poster suggests by the way she’s dressed, Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster will be heading to Asgard for the next round between Thor and Loki, and the Star Wars star had some nice things to say in general.

Natalie Portman says she loves going to new places she would never be able to go on her own, even if they are fictional. Though she played the Queen of Naboo in Star Wars Episode One, the stage was almost entirely CG so it wasn’t as interesting to film. As for Asgard, she says it brings back that childhood sense of wonder, and she’s loving every minute of it.

The interview with Natalie Portman about Thor: The Dark World revealed a few things about the setting, the clothes, and more:

It’s one of the joys of being in these movies, that there’s just such a high level of craftsmanship. The silk is printed like specifically for the film, these Asgardian symbols and the jewelry and the armor is made by a metal worker in the studio and it’s just like a level of craftsmanship of old movie making that we don’t get to see much anymore.”

Natalie Portman also had some kind words for costar Anthony Hopkins, who plays Odin, ruler of Asgard, and who she hadn’t met the first time around due to having no scenes together. She said she was extremely intimidated to finally meet him, but he turned out to be such a nice guy. Natalie Portman described the experience, “He’s just, man, he’s the best. You just sit there and try to remind yourself to act because he’s just like, you are jaw dropped on the floor watching him.”

Natalie Portman’s interview for Thor: The Dark World let us know she was comfortable in the role and more than a little excited.
