Global Warming Hoax Claimed As The Pacific Ocean Is Cooling The Globe

A global warming hoax is being claimed by critics as the oceans are said to be cooling the globe.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, global warming is not affected by soot and methane decreases.

In the past, global warming models showed a steady and increasing average for global temperatures. One part of the global warming models was the assumption that the oceans would also be warming which would then cause them to rise, threatening coastal cities and low lying land. But when measurements were actually made scientists were surprised to find out that while ocean levels were indeed rising the oceans were showing a temperature cooling trend.

Claims of a global warming hoax grew with the latest studies. The Scripps Institution of Oceanography wanted to know why global warming was slowing the past 15 years. They believe the “decrease in tropical Pacific sea surface temperature has lowered the global temperature by about 0.15 degrees Celsius compared to the 1990s.”

Other scientists are proposing other possible reasons for why the global warming models are wrong. It’s possible the quantities of ash from volcanoes might be higher than expected. Some believe the current 11 year solar cycle might be producing less heat than usual. Others are brave enough to raise the possibility that the global climate may be less sensitive than expected to increases levels of carbon dioxide. Despite criticism of global warming models, some scientists are still urging the public to accept anthropogenic global warming, which means global warming is human made.

Critics like Glenn Beck are claiming a global warming hoax, going so far as to fire employees that use energy efficient CFL light bulbs. Others point out the overall carbon footprint of a CFL bulb from manufacturing to disposal may actually have a higher negative impact on the environment than a regular bulb. Although, the same criticisms apparently can’t be applied to LED light bulbs which are quickly advancing in functionality and affordability.

David Whitehouse of the Global Warming Policy Foundation says the leaked climate report on global warming only helps critics:

“The absence of any significant change in the global annual average temperature over the past 16 years has become one of the most discussed topics in climate science. It has certainly focused the debate about the relative importance of greenhouse gas forcing of the climate versus natural variability.”

There is some good news when it comes to global warming models about superstorms like Hurricane Sandy which hit the New Jersey area. While they still believe global warming could create stronger storms they believe the jet stream curving that caused Sandy to target the area might be less of factor.

Do you think anthropogenic global warming is a hoax? If so, what do you believe caused the slow warming trend these past 100 years?

TOTAL heat content of the oceans is rising, it is just the distribution of that heat that is providing a slow down in atmospheric temperature rise. QED.

Nine of the 10 hottest years on record have occurred since 2002. 95%+ of sientists agree climate change is man made. Accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is simply too great – and can easily be traced down to human activities – to be ignored or attributed to natural causes. http://clmtr.lt/cb/wVW0cqR

For climate change, it is the long-term trends that are important, measured over decades or more. And those long-term trends show that the globe is still, unfortunately, warming. http://clmtr.lt/cb/wSm

Interesting side bar on the GWPF.

"Lord Lawson’s climate-change think tank faces being dismantled or even wound down after a formal complaint that it has persistently misled the public prompted the statutory regulator to probe into the group.

Since Lord Lawson launched the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) in November 2009 it has “persistently disseminated inaccurate and misleading information about climate change as part of its campaign against climate policies in the UK and overseas,” the complaint alleges.

The use of factually inaccurate material without a legitimate basis in science is an abuse of the foundation’s charitable status, which is all the more reprehensible because the public is more trusting of pronouncements made by charities, according to the complaint, filed by Bob Ward, head of policy at the Lord Stern’s Grantham Institute and a former communications director at the Royal Society."

You're not actually quoting Skeptical Science as "proof," are you? A web site run by a cartoon artist?

"I'm not a climatologist or a scientist but a self employed cartoonist" – John Cook, Skeptical Science

Not to mention the fact that he routinely censors anyone who disagrees with him in the comments section, or that it is a flat-out lie that "97% of scientists" agree that global warming is real, and even if it were, science is NOT about consensus. At one point 99.9999999999999% of scientists agreed the sun orbited the earth. At another point, 99.9999999999999999% of scientists agreed that the earth was flat. Science doesn't give two flying figs about "consensus." Science is about fact, and the fact of the matter is the computer models to not equal use of the scientific method or being able to reproduce experiments time and time again to verify results. We don't even begin to have enough years of consistent data to *run* the computer models let alone say they show conclusively that the earth is warming because of human activity.
