Liam Hemsworth Should Break Up With Miley Cyrus To Save His Career, Friends Say

Liam Hemsworth is being urged to dump fiancee Miley Cyrus and minimize the risk the 20-year-old singer could do to his burgeoning career, sources close to the couple say.

Hemsworth has scored a hit movie franchise in Hunger Games and is growing as a highly sought-after Hollywood actor, but friends reportedly think Miley’s antics could put a stop to that.

At Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus made headlines for a raunchy performance while Robin Thicke sang his hit “Blurred Lines.” Miley pranced on stage wearing nothing more than a bra and nude underwear, twerking against the much-older singer.

The 23-year-old Hemsworth started dating 20-year-old Miley in 2010 after meeting on the set of The Last Song. Friends say Liam Hemsworth started his relationship with Miley when she was still a spunky teenager, but the free-wheeling “ghetto” attitude she’s taken has been a shock to him.

Liam was noticeably absent on Sunday at the VMAs, which some interpret as a sign that the two may be drifting apart. Sources told Hollywood Life that Liam made the decision to stay away from the show after learning what Miley’s on-stage performance would entail.

“Liam really does care about Miley, but her racy new look and sort of ghetto attitude isn’t exactly what he signed up for,” a source told Radar Online, adding, “It’s not just Liam that Miley is pushing away…his entire team is urging him to part ways with her because she’s nothing but negative for his reputation and career.”

Miley has earned criticism from a number of other places for her twerking performance. Robin Thicke’s mother, Gloria Loring, said she thought Miley was “over the top” and misguided in her antics.

The performance came amid continual rumors that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are on the rocks. But if there are problems, the two young stars are not discussing them —- when asked in interviews, Miley insists they’re doing fine and still planning to get married.
