I Don’t Care That Colbert Is On Hulu, It’s Still Georetarded!

So Hulu now has Stewart and Colbert, and according to Michael Arrington this will stop him (and presumably others) using bittorrent. Worse still the headline “Game Over. Hulu Wins…” Hulu wins what? They’re still not available on a television device where many would prefer their content (imagine it on the Apple TV for example), but more importantly 79% of the world’s internet users (comScore) can’t watch Hulu. This is not a game over win, that’s a minor victory in 20% of the market.

Hulu is STILL georetarded.

I know it’s not their fault, I’ve actually met a couple of the team before, but how about a little perspective here. Myself, and the 79% of the rest of the world’s internet using population (ie the majority of people) don’t care about Colbert on Hulu, we only care about fair and equitable access to this content. It’s only when the TV industry wakes up to the fact that georetarding services such as Hulu actually encourages piracy and is counter-intuitive to their overalls goals can people start calling anything related to Hulu a game over win.

Steve Hodson shares some similar thoughts.
