‘Borderlands 2’ Game Of The Year Edition Confirmed

Borderlands 2 developer Gearbox has confirmed that a Game of the Year Edition is coming soon.

The announcement comes just days after GameStop let it leak that the a GOTY Edition was on its way.

“For us and for fans, the love for Borderlands 2 has been nothing short of spectacular, so it’s natural for us here at Gearbox Software to want everyone else to have a chance to experience the best-selling game and its most valuable expansion content,” said Gearbox president Randy Pitchford.

“The Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition offers more value than ever before in one package, giving everyone an opportunity to become a legendary Vault Hunter, and join in the award winning mayhem and fun.”

The Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition will launch October 8 in North America and October 11 internationally. For $59.99, players will get over $100 worth of content, including all four campaign add-ons and both added classes. The GOTY Edition will also include the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack.

The four campaign add-ons are:

  • Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty,
  • Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
  • Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt
  • Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep

The two added classes are:

  • Gaige the Mechromancer
  • Krieg the Psycho

This isn’t the only big announcement for Borderlands 2. The game will also be released for the PlayStation Vita in 2014.

“For the last year, Gearbox Software, 2K, and PlayStation have been inundated with emails, tweets, forum posts and more from passionate gamers across the world pleading for a PS Vita version of Borderlands 2,” Gearbox product manager Adam Fletcher said. “You spoke, we listened, and with the wonderful collaboration between 2K, PlayStation and the team at Iron Galaxy Studios – makers of indie fighting game Divekick – we can finally make Borderlands 2 on PS Vita a reality!”

The announcement was made shortly after Sony confirmed that the PS Vita would be dropping in price to $199 in North America.

Gearbox also announced that the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 will raise the Borderlands 2 level cap to 72. That upgrade will be available for $5 on September 3.
